Lost Ark, the newest MMORPG from Smilegate RPG and Amazon Games, has officially passed 20 million global users according to an announcement from the companies published on Monday. According to their announcement, 10 million of those players came with the launch of the game in North America, Europe, South America, and Australia.
“Overall, the excitement surrounding Lost Ark from around the world is quickly gaining steam, as evidenced by the growing number of global players,” VP at Amazon Games Christoph Hartmann said in the press release. “Together with Smilegate, we are committed to supporting the growing community with a robust roadmap of updates in the years to come.”
CEO of Smilegate RPG Wongil Chiagreed, saying: “Lost Ark has been well-received by experts in terms of development value and game quality, and the number of the users is steadily increasing.”
Lost Ark hit the 2nd highest all-time concurrent player count on Steam the week of its western release, beating out both CS:GO and Dota 2 at a peak of 1.32 million concurrent players. The game was only bested by the insane numbers put up by PUBG: Battlegrounds, which peaks at 3.25 million concurrent layers several years ago.
Lost Ark's success has been bolstered by popularity on Twitch, with the game topping 1.2 million viewers the week of its release. Asmongold cited the game's Diablo-like combat, deep systems, and personality of Final Fantasy as reasons for the game's broad appeal to players.
