Lost Ark Scrapper guide: Best skills, build, and leveling guide

In Lost Ark, the Scrapper is a martial artist class that focuses on hand-to-hand combat with two massive gauntlets. “Hand-to-hand combat” is quite literal, as the Scrapper skillset is almost entirely comprised of different types of punching attacks. If you’re looking for diverse martial arts, you may want to look elsewhere. There are no kicks, throws, or grapples in the Scrapper skill set, just hands. If the thought of getting up close and personal with your enemies and punching them to death sounds appealing, this is absolutely the class for you.

From a gameplay standpoint, the Scrapper is one of the most straightforward classes in Lost Ark. As such, the class is perfect for beginners. As a Scrapper, we don’t have the typical identity mechanics that other classes have such as Shadowhunter’s transformation or Gunslinger's and Deadeye’s weapon swaps. Instead, we have two separate resources called Stamina and Shock that we use to cast our two different types of skills. Stamina skills consume Stamina and generate Shock, while Shock skills consume Shock and generate Stamina.

Best Scrapper builds

Much like every other class, the two primary builds that Scrapper has are determined by their Class Engravings.

Shock Training build

The Shock Training build primarily uses Stamina skills as a means of generating Shock, which is used for their hard-hitting Shock skills. The Shock skills then generate Stamina which is then used by your Stamina skills. The Shock Training engraving allows you to generate Shock passively and gives a damage bonus to Shock skills.

The Shock Training build resembles what you played while leveling. It has a satisfying ebb and flow playstyle where you'll cycle between Stamina and Shock skills. The Shock Training build generally hits harder than the Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu build, but is more deliberate in terms of how you need to play. A lot of Shock skills have long cast times and require positionals to deal optimal damage, so every hit counts.

This build typically looks for Specialization and Crit as their desired stats, with Specialization usually being the primary focus. Aim for around a 70/30 Specialization/Crit split.

Desired engravings for this build are (In order):

  • Shock Training
  • Grudge
  • Ambush Master
  • Cursed Doll
  • Adrenaline

An example Shock Training build for a brand new level 50 character with 252 Skill Points will look like this:

Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu build

The Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu build primarily uses Stamina skills, with one or two Shock skills to dump excess Shock. The Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu engraving massively increases your Stamina regeneration and boosts the damage of your Stamina skills, while giving a damage penalty to Shock skills. This means that you won’t need to alternate between using Shock and Stamina skills often in order to fuel your Stamina skill usage.

Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu is a faster-paced and mobile build with high attack speed and consistent damage. This build has a simple playstyle and is quite forgiving compared to the Shock Training build. There is not really any resource management necessary, just hit whatever buttons are off cooldown when you can. While the Ultimate Skill: Taijutsu build also has skills with cast times and positionals, they typically go off much faster than those of the Shock Training counterpart.

This build typically looks for Crit and Swiftness as their desired stats, with Crit usually being the primary focus. Aim for around a 70/30 Crit/Swiftness split to begin with.

Desired engravings for this build are (In order):

  • Ultimate Skill:Taijutsu
  • Grudge
  • Keen Blunt
  • Adrenaline
  • Ambush Master

Leveling Scrapper

Leveling in Lost Ark is pretty streamlined and straightforward, but here are a few key skills and tripods that will aid you in the leveling process.

Charging Blow

This is a Stamina skill that is unlocked immediately. This is a utility skill that makes your character dash forward. With 4 skill points, you can level this skill to 4 and increase the dash distance by 3 meters with the Excellent Mobility tripod. I would leave this skill at level 4 in order to conserve skill points thereafter. This is a great skill for moving through zones and you should be using it often.

Dragon Advent

This is a Stamina skill that is unlocked immediately. This skill makes your character leap forward to a target location. The skill has good damage but we’ll mostly be using it for mobility during the leveling process. The cooldown is longer but the leap distance is also further than Charging Blow. With 4 skill points, you can level this skill to 4 and increase the leap distance by 2 meters with the Excellent Mobility tripod. I would leave this skill at level 4 in order to conserve skill points thereafter. This is also a great skill for moving through zones and you should be using it often.

Death Rattle

This is a Shock skill that is unlocked at level 14. This is your main single target skill and your hardest hitting skill as a scrapper. I would get this skill to level 7 by investing 20 skill points into it early, and then leave it at level 7 until you level the next 3 skills to 10. You can level this to 10 first, but the AoE is not very large compared to the following skills. Having good mobbing is extremely convenient for leveling, as there will be a significant amount of trash mobs that you need to clear.

Earthquake Chain

This is a Stamina skill that is unlocked at level 16. This is one of 3 high damage AoE skills available to you as a Scrapper. You’ll use this skill to clear large packs of trash mobs and as one of your main damage skills to bosses. You want to get this skill to level 10 by investing 48 skill points into it as soon as possible, along with the other 3. Since this is the first of the 3 main AoE skills that you get access to, I would suggest leveling this one to 10 first.

Chain Destruction Fist

This is a Shock skill that is unlocked at level 20. This is one of 3 high damage AoE skills available to you as a Scrapper. You’ll use this skill to clear large packs of trash mobs and as one of your main damage skills to bosses. You want to get this skill to level 10 by investing 48 skill points into it as soon as possible, along with the other 3. This is the hardest hitting of the 3 main AoE skills that you have access to, but has the longest cooldown. You can choose to level this one to 10 first, but you’ll have more downtime clearing packs of trash mobs.

True Rising Fist

This is a Shock skill that is unlocked at level 28. This is one of 3 high damage AoE skills available to you as a Scrapper. You’ll use this skill to clear large packs of trash mobs and as one of your main damage skills to bosses. You want to get this skill to level 10 by investing 48 skill points into it as soon as possible, along with the other 3. I’d prioritize this one last, as the other 2 AoE skills do considerably more AoE damage.
