Blizzard Entertainment has announced and shadow-dropped a new campaign for Warcraft III: Reforged titled "Forsaken Kingdom." Marking the series' first new story content in over 20 years, the update includes a new prologue, hero character, and various system improvements all at once.
Blizzard revealed a new trailer for the Warcraft III: Reforged expansion Forsaken Kingdom at BlizzCon 2026, held at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12 local time.
The new campaign is reportedly structured in two parts. The new prologue, "The Last Days of Lordaeron," covers the aftermath of Arthas slaying his father in the original Warcraft III. The main campaign that follows is set in Undercity, the capital of the undead kingdom, featuring factions and characters familiar to series fans, including Sylvanas.
By revisiting Arthas's narrative from the beginning, the campaign is seen as filling in the gaps of the existing storyline. Alongside this new campaign, Warcraft III: Reforged also received a free 3.0 update. It adds over 30 hours of new gameplay content, as well as a new neutral hero, the Forsaken Paladin. Notably, the new graphics mode shifts away from Reforged's exaggerated visuals to bring the art style closer to what the original Warcraft III initially intended. Additionally, the maximum unit selection cap has doubled from 12 to 24 units, and lighting and environmental rendering in the World Editor have been improved.
When Warcraft III: Reforged launched in 2020, it faced heavy criticism from fans as many promised features were missing. In response, Blizzard released the Reforged 2.0 update in November 2024 to celebrate the Warcraft series' 30th anniversary, adding further content. With this new campaign, players are expected to experience the Warcraft universe in a fresh new way.
