'World of Warcraft: Forever', a reboot of the original World of Warcraft, was unveiled today (13th) at BlizzCon 2026.
'World of Warcraft: Forever' is a fresh reinterpretation of original Azeroth. At first glance, it might call to mind the Classic series, but its direction is different. While Classic focused on preserving the nostalgia of the past while applying modern elements such as graphics options—including resolution and frame rate—and quality-of-life features for a smooth experience, 'World of Warcraft: Forever' focuses on expanding and revamping Azeroth itself.
In fact, 'World of Warcraft: Forever' not only expands or revamps existing zones, but also adds new zones, dungeons, and raids. On top of this, over 1,000 new quests will be added. As it adds a massive amount of new content while building on original Azeroth, the term "reboot" fits appropriately. In the revealed trailer, viewers can even catch a scene suggesting that Dalaran—which did not appear until 'Wrath of the Lich King'—is being rebuilt at an earlier point in time.
These changes apply to classes and gameplay as well. Gameplay will be updated across all specializations, Honor and professions will be revamped, and a new camping system will be added. In addition, new race and class combinations that were previously unavailable, such as Dwarf Shamans and Forsaken Paladins, will be introduced.
A new playable race, the Skyborne, will also be added. The Skyborne is an original neutral race exclusive to 'Forever' that did not exist in original 'World of Warcraft', an elven race originating from the recently discovered Zephras Isle. Players can choose the Skyborne to join in a new adventure in 'World of Warcraft: Forever'.
In addition, world visual effects updates and gameplay improvements will be implemented, structured so that players can enjoy Azeroth through various activities ranging from PvP to fishing.
'World of Warcraft: Forever' is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026. The game is available for pre-purchase via Battle.net, and Blizzard plans to showcase an evolving world through ongoing updates while providing a new 'World of Warcraft' experience where players can progress at their own pace.
