"Eclipse," the major update set to mark the grand finale of 'World of Warcraft: Midnight,' was revealed today (13th) at BlizzCon 2026.
The "Eclipse" trailer begins by showing Xal'atath heading toward the heart of Azeroth. Leading a swarm of Void entities, Xal'atath arrives before a massive gate protecting the World Core, where an apparition of a Titan Keeper blocks her path. Detecting corruption within Xal'atath, the Titan Keeper's illusion bars her access to the World Core. However, Xal'atath scoffs at this and controls her accompanying Void creatures to force open the giant door. The gate, which seemed impossible to open, finally gives way, revealing the World-Soul glowing brilliantly like a sun beyond it.
Gazing at the World-Soul with an ecstatic expression, Xal'atath exudes confidence, proclaiming that neither the Titans, the Old Gods, nor any mortal race could stop her. She goes on to declare victory, stating that once she and the World-Soul become one, she will be able to devour all who dare oppose her rule. The trailer then concludes with Xal'atath's wicked laughter as the Void swallows the light of the World-Soul.
Specific details about the content in "Eclipse" have not been released yet. However, given Xal'atath's moves to devour the World-Soul, this update is expected to feature the central conflict surrounding the World-Soul in full force. Since the World-Soul is something both the Titans and mortals must protect at all costs, the long history with Xal'atath—which began in 2016 with 'World of Warcraft: Legion'—is expected to reach its ultimate conclusion in this update.
Game Director Ion Hazzikostas also highlighted the relationship between Xal'atath and the World-Soul when discussing "Eclipse." He stated, "Xal'atath has coveted the World-Soul since the days of the Black Empire, and now complete victory is within her grasp," adding, "More details will be shared in upcoming sessions, so please stay tuned."
Meanwhile, Director Ion Hazzikostas also mentioned 'World of Warcraft: The Last Titan,' the third expansion in The Worldsoul Saga following "Eclipse."
While noting that it is still too early to reveal detailed information, he explained, "The events unfolding in the World Core will set the stage for a massive truth and conflict," adding, "'The Last Titan' will be the final chapter of The Worldsoul Saga and the culmination of over 20 years of 'World of Warcraft' history."
He continued, "'The Last Titan' is an expansion that brings one chapter to a close while laying the groundwork for the next," adding, "It won't simply be a return to Northrend, but a story reflecting on a generation of courage and achievements."
He also referenced the history of players fighting to defend their home—from the Sands of Ahn'Qiraj to the Frozen Throne and the Burning Legion—emphasizing that players will once again need to step up to defend Azeroth and the world.
Afterward, he shared a short video snippet teasing an entity players will face in 'The Last Titan.' The footage featured a colossal bipedal mech set against Wyrmrest Temple and Icecrown Citadel. Its massive size was overwhelming even when compared to Wyrmrest Temple, after which the video concluded.
"Eclipse" is expected to conclude the narrative surrounding Xal'atath and the World-Soul in 'World of Warcraft: Midnight,' while setting up the next chapter of The Worldsoul Saga leading into 'The Last Titan.'
