In Match 1 of the 2026 LoL World Championship (Worlds) Swiss Stage, held in the early morning of the 24th KST at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas, Gen.G defeated IG in just 26 minutes.
IG struck first when 'Rookie''s Aurora claimed first blood on 'Canyon''s Qiyana. They then established a strong position during the Voidgrubs battle, taking down every member of Gen.G except Qiyana—starting with 'Kiin''s Ornn and 'Ruler''s Corki—to build a massive early lead. Following the crushing defeat at the Voidgrubs fight, Gen.G fell behind by 2,000 gold in just 10 minutes.
IG then targeted the bottom lane to hunt down Corki once more. However, Gen.G simultaneously targeted 'Rookie''s Aurora in the mid lane and shut her down, coming out slightly ahead in the exchange. As the Dragon naturally spawned, a 5v5 teamfight broke out immediately. Gen.G secured the Dragon, and with kills traded evenly, the situation was looking fine for Gen.G.
As both teams traded tower dive attempts in the top and bottom lanes, IG destroyed the top tower first to claim First Turret and secured the Rift Herald. IG then directed their momentum to mid, pushing Gen.G back and destroying the outer mid tower. However, 'Canyon''s Qiyana caught Aurora overextending slightly, shutting her down and allowing Gen.G to stack their third Dragon. With the gold lead now reversed, momentum fully shifted to Gen.G.
IG could not afford to yield the next Dragon. Gen.G engaged in the dragon fight comfortably and won the teamfight easily, securing the Dragon Soul followed by Baron Nashor to seize total control. Maintaining relentless pressure, Gen.G destroyed IG's Nexus in just 26 minutes to secure the victory.
