Day 1 of the 2026 LoL World Championship (Worlds) Swiss Stage took place in the early morning of October 24 (KST) at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. As a result, all four LCK seeds secured victories, while all four LPL teams suffered defeats, marking contrasting fortunes for the two rival leagues right from day one.

In Match 1, Gen.G put on a dominant performance against LPL's IG. Although Gen.G got off to a rough start after losing heavily in an early Voidgrub fight to IG, they completely overwhelmed IG with calm, stable macro management and clean teamfighting from the mid-game onward, turning the tide and securing a surprisingly easy victory. The LCK's dominance continued in Match 2. Once again featuring an LCK vs. LPL matchup, Hanwha Life Esports faced TES, with HLE delivering an even more destructive performance to breeze past TES in just 23 minutes.
Bad news kept piling up for the LPL after back-to-back losses. BLG, known as the LPL team that fights LCK teams most fiercely, fell to MKOI after a hard-fought battle, and in Match 4, AL—featuring 'Kael' and 'Tarzan'—was defeated by Europe's KC, completing an unexpected four-loss sweep for the LPL on day one.
Match 5 featured a showdown between Dplus KIA and G2. Living up to their reputation as Europe's top team, G2 pressed Dplus KIA from the early game and set the tempo. However, DK was different this year. Despite the disadvantageous start, they refused to back down, steadily catching up through macro play before winning a pivotal dragon teamfight past the 30-minute mark to complete the comeback, securing the LCK's third consecutive victory. In Match 6, CFO defeated North America's Team Liquid, upholding the pride of the LCP.
Then, in Match 7, CBLOL #1 seed LOS went head-to-head with LCK's T1. As expected, it was a comfortable victory for T1. Although LOS showed respectable laning in the early going, the balance gradually crumbled once T1's jungle and support began roaming, and the gap widened rapidly, leading T1 to close out the game in 24 minutes and ensuring all four LCK teams finished the opening day with wins. Finally, in Match 8, LCS #2 seed LYON comfortably defeated LCP #1 seed TSW by snowballing early skirmishes.
