G2 Esports has parted ways with 'valyn', the in-game leader (IGL) of its VALORANT team, after three years with the organisation.

G2 announced the departure on X (formerly Twitter) on October 27th, alongside a farewell video. "Today we say farewell to @valynfps," the team wrote, crediting him with "8 straight international appearances, 4 VCT Americas trophies, 1 legendary IGL". The post also thanked him "for helping put G2 VALORANT back on the map". G2 did not say where valyn will play next, and the player has not announced a new team.

valyn quote-posted the announcement with a video of his own and replied to G2 with two heart emoji. "It was a journey I'll remember forever!" he wrote in reply to a goodbye message from G2's 'JustMarby'. G2's 'shhhack' also paid tribute. "Everyone knows how insane he is as a player and a leader. But more importantly, he's one of the best human beings you could ever meet. I'll miss you," shhhack posted.

How G2's season ended

The exit follows the end of G2's 2026 season at VALORANT Champions Shanghai, the world championship that closes Riot Games' VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) each year. 100 Thieves knocked G2 out of the playoffs in a three-map series on October 16th, according to the official VCT account on X.

After that loss, G2 described the run as its last. "Our Last Dance concludes in Shanghai. Thank you China, Americas and the whole #G2ARMY for your support," the organisation posted at the time. G2 has not yet said who will lead its VALORANT roster in 2027.
