Blizzard's MOBA 'Heroes of the Storm', which announced an "official" halt to major updates on July 9, 2022, has signaled a potential revival.
Today (13th), Blizzard announced a new hero for 'Heroes of the Storm' at its gaming convention, BlizzCon 2026. This comes about six years after Hogger, the game's 90th and previously final hero, was released on December 3, 2020.
Xal'atath, the hero joining 'Heroes of the Storm', first appeared in the 'Legion' expansion of Blizzard's flagship MMORPG 'World of Warcraft'. In 'Legion', she gradually built her presence as a Priest Artifact weapon, and has since established herself as the new primary antagonist across 'Battle for Azeroth', 'Dragonflight', 'The War Within', and 'Midnight'.
What role Xal'atath will fulfill upon joining 'Heroes of the Storm' has not yet been revealed. Detailed information regarding her kit is expected to be unveiled during BlizzCon 2026.
Meanwhile, during the opening ceremony, Blizzard Entertainment President Johanna Faries shared her thoughts while announcing Xal'atath, saying, "I could feel the wishes of Heroes of the Storm fans." She went on to hint at potential future updates, adding, "Another new hero might come in the near future. Stay tuned, and we hope to see you in the Nexus."
Xal'atath will be added to the PTR server starting Monday, the 14th (US local time), and is scheduled for official release on September 29.
