On the 2nd (KST), DAMWON Gaming took down Hanwha Life Esports in Round 2 of the 2020 LCK Spring with a set score of 2-0. With today’s victory, DWG is now on a 2 match win streak to go to 5th in the standings.

Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun joined Inven to talk about the match victory against HLE.

DWG is now on a 2 match win streak. How do you feel?

It definitely feels good. The fact that the team’s morale went up makes me feel really good as well.

You joined DWG in the middle of the season. How did it all come about?

The CEO of DWG himself called me to offer me a spot on the team, so I gladly accepted the offer. I wanted to join a team that not only performs well in the league, but also aim for the championship as well, and I thought that team was DWG.

The team seemed really shaky in Round 1, so despite the shakiness, is there a reason why you thought that DWG was a championship contending team?

The players very talented to begin with, and I believed that even individually, they can at least stand their ground against players on high ranked teams.

After you joined the team, many say in unison that the team seems more stable and tightly knit. What are your thoughts on this assessment?

We all tried really hard to become better. During the hiatus, not only did I have long conversations with the coaching staff, I shared my thoughts on how the team should play. I think that having those long talks really helped in improving our team’s performance. Also, I believe that everyone worked really hard to achieve such good results.

Your next opponents are Afreeca Freecs. Are you confident that the team will be able to extend the match win streak to three?

Right now, the team’s full of confidence. I believe that we can beat everyone. There’s a monstrous Top laner that lives in the Top lane, and his name is Kiin, so as long as we deal with him well, we’ll have no problem in taking the victory.

What’s your goal for the immediate future?

My teammates and I jokingly talked about how we just need 11 consecutive wins to go straight to the finals. That number is now at 2, so I'll make sure to add 9 more to go straight to the LCK finals.

Lastly, is there anything you want to tell your fans cheering for you at home?

I want to thank all those that remembered and mentioned my name when I was a free agent. As part of the DWG family, I’ll make sure to work hard with my team to put on a great performance for all of you.
