At the Nintendo Direct on June 9, Nintendo unveiled 'Xenoblade Genesis,' the latest entry in the 'Xenoblade' series. The game is set to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027 and will support Korean. Nintendo also announced 'Switch 2 Editions' for the original three titles, ensuring that the entire main series will be available on the next-generation console with Korean language support by the end of the year.

During the Nintendo Direct on the 9th, Nintendo revealed Xenoblade Genesis, a new title in the Xenoblade series developed by Monolith Soft. With its release slated for 2027, it marks the first new entry in the series in about five years since Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Nintendo introduced the new title as a 'new beginning for the series.' The core of its world-building is 'Anima,' the source of all things in the universe. Everything that makes up the world—including water, fire, and wind—is a different manifestation of the Anima flowing through the land, and the battles are decided by knights who can freely manipulate this power.

The protagonist attends the Lycos Knight Academy, where they learn to understand and harness their power while carrying a mysterious 'Anima Crystal.' The revealed details suggest that humanity will eventually discover that the grudge of a defeated god has yet to be fully quelled.

Notably, this entry shifts away from the series' sci-fi elements, focusing instead on a fantasy-themed academy setting. It is also the first title in the series to omit numbering in its title.

Alongside the new title, Switch 2 editions of the three existing main games were announced. All three will support Korean and run at 4K/60fps in TV mode and FHD/60fps in handheld mode. Cutscenes will also be rendered in high resolution.

The digital version and upgrade pass for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition went on sale immediately following the Nintendo Direct, while the 2nd and 3rd installments are scheduled for release on July 30 and December 3, respectively. Each title will also feature new elements exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 editions.

With this announcement, the entire Xenoblade series is now set to be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
