On the 5th, DAMWON Gaming took down DRX 3-0 in the 2020 LCK Summer split finals to become the LCK champions. The top laner for DWG, Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, was named the MVP and was named the ‘Finals MVP’.

His performance on Ornn and Renekton rendered DRX helpless. His performance on the two champions proved that DWG is able to successfully play any type of team composition, whether it may be a scaling comp with a bot-ccentric late-game carry, or an early-game snowball team composition that the team’s more familiar with, playing around their top/mid lane.

In being named the Finals MVP, Nuguri commented, “I think the reason why I was named the Finals MVP was because I was able to play champions that are easy and have little pressure on my shoulders. Both the players and the coaching staff worked really hard in preparing our draft against DRX. I’m very honored to be named the Finals MVP, and I’ll continue to work harder.”

He also sent a message to all the world class top laners that he’ll be meeting at the 2020 LoL World championships. Nuguri stated, “I played defensive champions that acted more as a shield for the team today. At Worlds, I’ll make sure to play more aggressive champions to tear through my enemies like a sword.”

By defeating DRX, DWG also became the 1st LCK seed for the upcoming 2020 LoL World championships. DRX already took the 2nd ticket for Worlds, and with the 3rd and final ticket up for grabs, kt Rolster, Afreeca Freecs, T1, and Gen.G will be battling in the LCK Regional Qualifiers, which starts on Monday, Sep. 7th (KST).
