Related: Korean LOL Team for 2018 Asian Games Announced
Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok shared his thoughts on being selected for the League of Legends national team for the 2018 Asian Games.
On the 31st of May (KST), the roster for the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games demonstration event was announced. Faker was selected as the mid laner for the League of Legends team.
When asked about being chosen, Faker said “It’s a meaningful event since esports is taking a step closer toward those who don’t enjoy games. I’m happy to take part in such an event.”
Faker has played in several LoL All-Star Events and had many chances to build teamwork with many different players. “It’s not much different from the All-Star Event in terms of teamwork. However, each player will have a more dedicated mindset compared to the All-Star Event. That makes the team feel more responsibility for having to represent Korea.”
Faker also commented on the competitors like China and Taiwan, who have recently grown much stronger, “There are many strong contenders for the medal in Asia, so it may not be easy to get a medal. However, I want to prove that Korea is the world’s best country when it comes to gaming.”
Lastly, he said “More and more investments are being put into gaming in foreign countries. Naturally, the gap is closing. I will never become careless.”
Faker will be participating in the event with his former teammate Peanut alongside Kiin, Score, Ruler and CoreJJ.
