On September 17, the official campaign trailer for 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4' was revealed during the Xbox TGS 2026 Showcase.
This installment unfolds internal conflict within Task Force 141 surrounding John Price, who has become a fugitive, a war on the Korean Peninsula, and an unknown weapon capable of shattering the global order.
Following the events in Modern Warfare 3 where Price assassinated General Shepherd, Task Force 141 is disbanded and Price becomes a fugitive. Tensions escalate among the remaining members, with Ghost questioning Price's unlawful actions. Ghost and Gaz are assigned the mission to capture or eliminate their former captain.
CIA's Kate Laswell maintains contact with Price, but she too remains cautious of his methods. Valeria Garza appears before Price, and the two set aside past grudges to form an alliance to face an even greater threat.
Details of the Korean Peninsula plunged into chaos are also featured in the trailer. As North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea, Private Park Hyeon-jun and his squad launch a counteroffensive to defend their homeland. Joint ROK-US Marines engage in a desperate struggle for survival through ground combat and amphibious operations.
Alongside the manhunt for Price and the ongoing invasion of South Korea, an even greater threat moves in the background. An unknown weapon of war is delivered to a dangerous figure known as 'The Archer'. What capabilities the weapon possesses and why Archer wants it have not yet been revealed.
Meanwhile, Activision is providing a summary of the storyline so far via its official blog. Players can review the stories of the previous three Modern Warfare games through posts on the official blog.
'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4' will be released on October 23. However, players who pre-order the Standard Edition or Vault Edition can play the campaign early starting October 16.
