On the 27th (KST), Gen.G Esports and DAMWON Gaming took down Afreeca Freecs and Hanwha Life Esports respectively on Day 17 of 2020 LCK Spring Split. With both matches going to three games, Gen.G is now tied for first place with T1, and DAMWON took down HLE to place themselves fifth in the standings.

In the first match between Gen.G and Afreeca, the latter managed to come back from behind and take Game 1. While Afreeca started off with an advantage in the bot lane, Gen.G’s upper lanes managed to pull themselves back into the game. However, Kim “Kiin'' Gi-in's Sett and Jin “Mystic” Seong-jun’s Caitlyn managed to carry a late-game teamfight to take the victory in Game 1.

Compared to the 45 minute bloodbath in Game 1, Game 2 and 3 were more one-sided. Gen.G managed to take early leads in both games and managed to snowball both to victory. Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong and Kim “Clid” Tae-min were the key players in those games as the duo managed to destroy mid lane in Game 2, and proactively roamed around the map for a perfect game in Game 3, where Afreeca wasn’t able to take a single kill, objective, and turrets. Gen.G’s bot lane looked shaky, but the gold-sharing Senna-Tahm Kench bot lane proved to be the answer to stabilizing the lane.

In the 2nd match of the evening, DAMWON faced off against HLE. Each team managed to take games off each other in the first two matches. In Game 1, Jang “Nuguri'' Ha-gwon played top Soraka, and was able to help DAMWON’s bot lane carry the game. In Game 2, Kang “Haru” Min-seung camped top lane to snowball the game and transition it into victory.

Game 3 was all about Nuguri. Despite his Irelia having a dive in the top lane going wrong and racking up three deaths, he was able to scale well by playing out teamfights with the help of Sejuani and Yuumi. His KDA went from 1/4/0 to 7/4/0, and with a team composition that’s all about teamfighting, DAMWON was able to take down HLE 2:1
