On September 7, Kakao Games announced that it has revealed the official BI and key visual for 'ArcheAge S: Strait of Freedom' (hereinafter 'ArcheAge S'), a PC MMORPG currently under development by XLGAMES.
The official BI carries on the design structure of the 'ArcheAge' IP while incorporating imagery of the ocean, navigation, and a compass. Centered on the letter 'S', which represents the subtitle 'Strait', it captures the nautical and ocean themes of 'Strait of Freedom'.
The key visual reinterprets the world and sensibilities of the original game in an elegant, classic art style. By featuring five key characters connected to the lore alongside a fleet cutting through the sea, it depicts the narrative and scale of the game expanding from land-based combat to naval warfare.
'ArcheAge S' is a new title led by XLGAMES Producer Kim Kyung-tae, who served as the first planning team lead and producer for the original 'ArcheAge'. While inheriting the core identity of the original, the game is being reinterpreted to match modern gaming trends, with preparations underway for a Steam-centered service targeted for a global release in the second quarter of 2027.
Kakao Games plans to release a developer preview video in September. In the video, the development team will appear to explain their development philosophy and design intent, while showcasing key content and actual gameplay footage.
