On July 7, Super Creative held a live broadcast ahead of the Season 4 pre-season update for its collectible deck-building RPG, 'Chaos Zero Nightmare.' The stream featured Miss Navi, Live Director Choi Seung-hyun, and combat team member Kim Ki-bum, who introduced the upcoming pre-season content and story revisions.

The update begins with the reveal of a new combatant, 'Faye.' As a Void-attribute Ranger, Faye’s gameplay centers on the 'Flame Dance' buff, gained by using the 0-cost card 'Flame Dance Song,' and the 'Advent' buff, gained whenever an ally draws a card. When the Flame Dance buff reaches 3 stacks, she deals 120% additional damage to the last attacked enemy. If Advent reaches 8 or higher, she generates the 'Falling Sky' card, which deals 100% damage three times at 0 cost. Her kit emphasizes core card management, such as generating eight 'Flame Dance Song' cards when drawing with the starting card 'Form of Exorcism' and using the Ego Skill 'Blue Wall' to increase 'Falling Sky' damage by 100%.
The new partner, 'Luixiang,' increases the assigned combatant's Attack and grants one stack of the 'Subtle Reverberation' buff whenever a Void-attribute attack card is created. At 5 stacks, this buff increases the combatant's Critical Damage by 20–40% (depending on the partner card's breakthrough level) and boosts overall damage by 5–10% based on the number of stacks. The partner's Ego Skill draws one of the combatant's attack cards and then draws two additional cards, making it highly specialized for accumulating Advent buffs and utilizing Flame Dance Song cards.
Faye’s Trauma Code and Inheritor’s Milestone will also be updated. Although initially introduced as a criminal with a massive bounty, the Trauma Code will reveal Faye’s past and the circumstances behind her dangerous choices.

Following the end of Season 3, key cards and keywords for the Season 4 pre-season were unveiled. While Season 3 focused on 'Persona' cards inspired by the plays of the Chaos god 'Caligo,' the new season centers on 'Desire' cards. These are categorized into four keywords—Possession, Inquiry, Monopoly, and Survival—with five cards per category. Unlike the unique Persona cards, Desire cards can be combined and stacked for enhancement. Stacking them a certain number of times triggers set effects, allowing for new strategic approaches. Desire cards are obtained in areas marked with a kaleidoscope icon and are acquired based on keyword choices rather than solely through combat.

The update also includes a revamp of the story for Act 1, Chapters 1–5. These chapters, which precede the Season 1 'Forbidden Catalyst' update, received significant player feedback at launch. Director Choi Seung-hyun emphasized that the overhaul deepens the narrative, reinforces the captain's role and abilities within the world, and features fully re-recorded voice acting. He added that the changes go beyond minor adjustments, creating a more immersive and logical flow that naturally connects to the 'Great Rift's First Skill' context.

Following the story reveal, updates to save data were announced. New additions include the 'Resonance Core,' which adds one common card, and the 'Mutation Core,' which applies special effects to save data. Mutation Cores can grant bonuses like increased Attack or morale boosts for one turn after an additional attack, helping players compensate for missing equipment farming.
The new boss rotation for the upcoming Total War includes Judas, Colossus, and Starter of Craving. Judas grants bonus points when using cards costing 2 or more and provides a 50% damage increase for Justice and Passion attribute cards. Colossus now grants bonus points and damage when using basic cards, along with increased Passion/Void attribute damage and reduced basic card costs. Starter of Craving provides bonus points on ability draws, increased damage for 0-cost cards, and buffs for Void/Order attribute damage, plus an additional draw effect when drawing 0-cost attack cards (limited to 4 times per turn).

The 'Monster Arena' event from Season 2 returns for the pre-season. This version features exclusive monster cards and a reduced number of arenas to minimize player fatigue while focusing on strategic, single-play experiences.
The Zero System’s Environment Variable Protocol now includes a backup feature to restore previous season variables. Spent Chaos Orbs can also be recovered through a reset. The 'Super-Space Basin: Twilight of Dimensions' rotation content is being revamped: the number of stages is reduced from 10 to 8, and it will now offer up to three different support effects per season with new visual effects. Additionally, players can now automatically clear basins up to three levels lower than their previous season's achievement and start directly from the next level.
The 'Archianon Supply' season pass is also being improved. Previously, players had to choose a partner immediately upon purchasing the paid pass; now, they will receive a contract item to select and acquire their desired partner later. Other quality-of-life changes include removing the 'Elite Captain' requirement for unlocking Story Chapter 5, Episode 6, reordering save data edit menu buttons by frequency of use, and adding detailed action indicators when monsters act twice per turn.

New elements are coming to the 'Sortie' content. In Hardcore mode, defeating three or more Elite Unique monsters and destroying a Chaos Anchor unlocks the hidden 'Chaos Core Decisive Battle.' Clearing the depths after destroying three or more anchors leads to this battle, offering rewards like Black Matter and Tactical Data, though obtaining these additional rewards consumes Sanity.
A new Hardcore ranking system will track scores achieved in Hardcore mode over specific periods, displaying the top 100 players. This resets weekly and serves as a non-reward, record-keeping feature. An 'Engagement Data' achievement system is also being added, consisting of Sortie Data and Combat Data. Combatant-specific achievements require selecting that combatant at the start of a Sortie. Additionally, a 'Sortie Archive' will be added to track information gathered on Fates, cards, equipment, monsters, and bosses.

Finally, uncensored images of the three new Season 4 characters—Hilde, Arabella, and Olga—were revealed. While these characters were introduced at the Anime Expo panel in LA (July 2–5), the PG-13 rating constraints at the event required censoring parts of Arabella and Olga's outfits. The full details were shared via the broadcast and social media to reflect the higher service rating in domestic and global markets.
The Chaos Zero Nightmare Season 4 pre-season update arrives on July 8, with the full Season 4 content launching three weeks later on July 29. Further information is available on the official community.
