The bottom duo for kt Rolster, Kim “Deft” Hyeok-kyu and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong seemed to be looking forward to the matchup against ‘Uzi’. Both kt players have some history with Uzi; Deft won numerous games against him when he was in EDG and Mata played alongside Uzi when he was in the LPL.

Mata said, “Last year’s Rift Rivals was so sudden. However, this time it feels like it was prepared well, so I think the overall quality will be better and there will probably be more interesting matches.”

He also shared his thoughts on meeting his former teammates. “It’s always nice to meet my former teammates. I’m not going against my friends in the first round, but if we manage to proceed and meet Uzi, it will definitely be an interesting match.”

As another former LPL player, Deft was eager to meet his former teammates as well. “Even if I don’t go against them, it would be great to meet the EDG players. Well, Uzi was a player that I’ve always appreciated. It will be an interesting match if I get to go against him.”

Deft added, “The tournament is held in China, where I performed for a long time, so I would like to deliver a good performance for the Korean fans and the Chinese fans as well. The other teams that are performing with us are all quality teams, so I think there is a fair possibility that we'll [LCK teams] win the trophy.”
