The global alpha demo for 'Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel' (hereinafter 'Legion of Judgment'), a 2.5D noir action Metroidvania currently in development by Theremin Interactive, was released on Steam on the 29th.
'Legion of Judgment' is a 2.5D action Metroidvania that combines fast-paced combat with a realistic hotel management system. The game's primary antagonists are a secret werewolf organization manipulating humanity from the shadows. Players must lead a thrilling double life to track down and judge them: by day, they manage a run-down hotel in the real world, and by night, they traverse various realms, including the protagonist's inner world, the 'Memory Palace,' to eliminate the werewolves hiding in the dark. The ultimate goal is to develop the hotel and rebuild the Legion of Judgment.
The core of 'Legion of Judgment' is its hybrid gameplay loop, which alternates between hotel management and the 'Memory Palace.' These two elements offer distinct types of fun while serving as the primary pillars driving the protagonist's growth.
However, these features are not included in this alpha demo. The demo focuses on showcasing the game's core mechanics and its tense combat system. As the game is still in the early stages of development, this approach appears intended to verify the quality of the combat system—specifically the satisfying feel and impact characteristic of a belt scroller—before implementing the various content that will flesh out the full experience.
The alpha demo for 'Legion of Judgment' is available for anyone to play for free on Steam. The development team is currently collecting feedback on bugs and game balance through the Steam forums and plans to actively incorporate these insights to improve the final quality of the game.
