The Korea Association of Game Industry (K-GAMES) continues its commitment to fostering local game ecosystems through ongoing outreach. K-GAMES announced that it successfully held the 'Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Networking Event for Game Industry Development' on the 20th at the Daegu Content Business Center Gaon Hall, with representatives from regional game-related organizations and major game companies in attendance.
This event, a follow-up to last month's meeting in the Chungcheong region, focused on building a tight-knit regional cooperation network and exploring shared development paths with game companies operating in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas.
The event was attended by numerous officials from relevant organizations, including K-GAMES Chairman Jo Yeong-gi, Daegu Digital Innovation Agency Director Lee Jae-kwang, Gyeongbuk Technopark Director Kim Yu-hyeon, and Gyeongbuk Game Content Industry Association Chairman Lee Jung-Hoon. Notably, Representative Kim Seung-su of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee attended in person, adding significance to the occasion.
Key executives from local game companies based in Daegu and Gyeongbuk also graced the event, including 96Percent (CEO Lim Ki-hyun), NineDigit (CEO Lee Myeong-seop), Downpour (General Manager Lee Je-ho), DreamIdeaSoft (CEO Lee Je-hwan), RHAON Entertainment (Director Park Han-soo), WonderSoft (CEO Ryu Ji-soo), and KOG (Director Byun Jun-ho). The event began with a briefing on 2026 game industry issues, followed by presentations on key projects from Daegu and Gyeongbuk institutions. The subsequent discussion session featured in-depth practical deliberations centered on talent recruitment, regional specialization, and business and investment opportunities.
Representative Kim Seung-su, who attended the event, remarked that the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region possesses infinite potential, home to excellent game talent infrastructure and creative companies. As the only member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee from the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and co-representative of the National Assembly Game Policy Forum, he expressed his firm commitment to doing his utmost at the parliamentary level—including securing budgets and advocating for legislation that includes support provisions for local game companies—to help them bridge the gap with the capital region and achieve global competitiveness.
In response, K-GAMES Chairman Jo Yeong-gi stated that, following the previous event in the Chungcheong region, he was able to witness the intense passion of those working hard for the development of the game industry in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region. He added that K-GAMES would continue to engage in active communication with the local game industry with the goal of achieving mutual growth.
