MOONTON Games has announced that the inaugural Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Championship Tour East Asia 2026 will take place in Shanghai, China from May 22nd-24th. According to a release, the tournament will be held at the Star Ring Center and feature six Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) teams from China, Japan, Mongolia and South Korea.
The competition, also known as MCT East Asia (EA) 2026, will be part of the Hero Asian Champions League (ACL) ecosystem. This marks the first time MLBB has been included in the ACL. MCT EA 2026 will also act as East Asia’s qualifying route for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2026, which will take place at the Esports World Cup 2026.
Four qualification spots will be available through the event. The tournament winner will qualify directly for the MSC Main Event, while the second, third and fourth-placed teams will earn spots in the Wild Card stage.
Mike Chu, Head of East Asia Esports at MOONTON Games, said: “As the first East Asia event under the global MCT system for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, MCT EA’s inclusion in the Hero Asian Champions League marks an important milestone for the region’s esports development.
“Together with Hero Esports, we are proud to bring the top teams from China, Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia onto one competitive stage, creating greater opportunities for regional talent to compete, grow, and reach the international spotlight.”
MCT East Asia 2026 teams and format
The six teams competing at MCT EA 2026 have qualified through their respective regional qualifiers. China will be represented by GZG and YBG, while Mongolia’s representatives are The MongolZ and The Modun. Japan will be represented by Sunset Ravens, with Feiyun Esports competing for South Korea. The event will be split into two groups: the Mythical Group and the Legendary Group. The Mythical Group consists of GZG, The MongolZ and Sunset Ravens. Meanwhile, the Legendary Group features YBG, The Modun and Feiyun Esports.
Teams in the Legendary Group will first compete in a single round-robin best-of-three stage on May 22nd, with all three teams advancing to the playoffs. They will then join the Mythical Group in a best-of-three double-elimination bracket on May 23rd. The Losers’ Final and Grand Final will both be played as best-of-five matches on May 24th.
The tournament follows MOONTON Games’ unveiling of a five-region strategy for the MLBB esports ecosystem during the M7 World Championship. The system includes dedicated competitive circuits for Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, East Asia and the Americas. Spectator registration for MCT EA 2026 is now open.
