Line Games (co-CEOs Cho Dong-hyun and Bae Young-jin) announced on the 20th that it has released the first demo and gameplay trailer for 'CODE EXIT,' a new PC title developed by domestic indie developer Phase 8 Studio (formerly Cresent) and serviced by Line Games.
The newly released demo features Stage 1, the game's opening chapter, allowing players to experience an immersive survival narrative amidst threats that evolve organically based on the decisions made by the player or their teammates. The demo is available for download and play by anyone via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Following the demo release, Line Games will host a hands-on booth for CODE EXIT at PlayX4 2026, held at KINTEX in Ilsan from the 21st to the 24th. The company plans to actively incorporate user feedback gathered during the event to further refine the game before launching an Early Access version in the first quarter of next year.
CODE EXIT is a cooperative horror game set in a city overrun by a rogue artificial intelligence. Players take on the role of a member of Hermes, an investigative organization deployed to restore the AI, and work to uncover the truth behind the incident. The game features advanced sound design and an AI system that learns from player behavior in real-time, delivering intense psychological pressure that goes beyond predictable horror tropes.
A key differentiator is the game's focus on interdependent mission design, moving away from reliance on jump scares to provide a distinct gameplay experience compared to traditional horror titles.
The game supports multiplayer for one to four players, allowing them to enjoy tense cooperative gameplay by using real-time in-game voice chat to investigate facilities and complete missions together in the dark. A Line Games representative stated that this demo marks the beginning of CODE EXIT's unique brand of cooperative horror, adding that they hope the game will be one that players continue to discuss and share memories of long after they reach the ending with their teammates.
Meanwhile, the full gameplay trailer can be viewed on Phase 8 Studio's official YouTube channel.
