On Wednesday morning, ReKTGlobal, the parent company of Rogue esports announced its newest investor who also happens to be their first in the traditional sports world, according to a press release from the company. Professional NBA player, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz, joins an investment team of icons in the music industry such as Steve Aoki, DJ Nicky Romero, Imagine Dragons, and Tainy.

Gobert has built a career on the court as an enforcer underneath the basket as one of ten players who have won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards. At over seven feet tall, Gobert is looking to bring his passion for video games and business to the world of esports.

"My passion for gaming is well-known among both the Utah Jazz and my team in France, I've wanted to invest in and get more involved in esports for a while, and I'm really excited to make history with the ReKTGlobal family," said Gobert. "For years now, I've used gaming to unwind and relax during the season. It's also how I manage to keep up with my friends when I'm on the road. I'm especially looking forward to playing with the new Call of Duty franchise team before they begin competing next year."

Recently, ReKTGlobal announced they secured a franchise slot in the upcoming Call of Duty franchise league and their team will be based out of London.

Gobert isn't the only one who is excited about the opportunity to work alongside ReKTGlobal as their founder sees nothing but potential in the partnership.

"Rudy's a phenomenal fit for ReKTGlobal," said co-founder Amish Shah. "A passionate and longtime gamer, Rudy also brings a strong business acumen and fresh ideas to the table. As he's been wanting to invest in esports and get more involved in the gaming industry, we are honored that he selected ReKTGlobal to partner with, and we are excited to have him on board as our first traditional professional sports athlete."
