Pokémon UNITE, The Pokémon Company's free-to-play team battle game, will end service on March 23rd 2027 at 00:00 UTC on both Nintendo Switch and mobile.

The shutdown was confirmed in an official end-of-service notice on October 27th, which the game's account also shared on X (formerly Twitter) as "an important message regarding #PokemonUNITE." The game first launched on Switch on July 21st 2021, and the iOS and Android versions followed on September 22nd 2021.

After the end of service, players will no longer be able to log in or take part in battles. The Pokémon Company will also stop publishing and maintaining its content guidelines for online platforms, and it will no longer provide support for the use of Pokémon UNITE video and images.

Gem sales and UNITE Club memberships stopped

Some changes have already taken effect. According to the announcement, sales of Aeos gems were suspended on October 27th at 05:00 UTC, though players can still spend any gems they already hold until the game closes. New memberships for UNITE Club, the game's monthly paid membership service, and automatic renewals were halted at the same time. Current members keep their benefits until their membership period runs out.

A farewell event and a library mode

An update on November 12th at 04:00 UTC will add a special event that runs until service ends. Players will earn Unite coins through a log-in bonus and through missions completed by winning ranked matches and other battle modes. Those coins can be traded in a new Unite Coin Exchange for items that have appeared in the game before, including Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion items and Unite snapshot items.

The same update adds a 'library' feature that will keep working after the shutdown. It lets players visit the Practice Area and view the Holowear, Unite licenses, fashion items, emblems, achievements and tournament records they earned. The library data has to be downloaded before March 23rd 2027, and players who miss that window will not be able to use it. According to The Pokémon Company, library data generally cannot be moved when changing devices, and support for the feature ends with the game.

One last tournament

The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will still go ahead as previously announced, with qualifier tournaments starting on December 5th. Registration for the event opened on October 27th, the official Pokémon UNITE account posted on X.
