Vander signs with Rogue, will play for Rogue Academy in Ultraliga

After four years in the EU LCS, Oskar "Vander" Bogdan will be returning home. The Polish Support joined Rogue Academy, who will be competing in Poland's Ultraliga for the 2019 season.

Vander tweeted about the move himself, saying that it felt nostalgic to return to the Polish scene for the first time in a half decade. Vander, who began his search for an EU LCS team in 2013, made his debut in the 2014 EU LCS Spring Split on ROCCAT. Vander's impressive mechanical ability put eyes on him as one of the top Supports in Europe in his two-year tenure with ROCCAT.

Vander and ROCCAT Jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski moved to H2K at the beginning of 2016. H2K was never the strongest team in Europe, but it did qualify for the 2016 World Championship and was the only Western team to reach the Semifinals. Vander spent the majority of the past two seasons as the starting Support for Schalke 04, but will not be starting in the LEC in 2019. Former G2 Esports Support and fellow ROCCAT alumnus Kim "Wadid" Bae-in will be starting for Rogue in the 2019 LEC Spring Split.

Rogue's signing of Vander is not particularly surprising — the LEC organization acquired the majority of ROCCAT'S remnants from the 2018 EU LCS. However, Vander's lack of a starting spot in the LEC is quite a surprise, given his reputation and abilities.

Vander gives Rogue a familiar presence at a developmental level of their organization. In addition, this isn't the first signing of the off-season that entices a scratch of the head. Depth is an all-new concept in the franchising era in Western League of Legends, and newfound flexibility and resources are presenting staff and players with new situations and career paths.

Still, Vander was only one match away from qualifying for the 2018 World Championship with Schalke 04. Expect to see the Polish Support on the LEC stage at some point in the future.
