The most popular class in Lost Ark, the most sensational game in Korea right now

Lost Ark has been a huge sensation since its launch last week, with some even calling it the new Diablo.

Despite the fact that the game is only being serviced in Korea, gamers around the globe have found ways to play Lost Ark and are enjoying the game a lot. There were massive waiting lines and frequent server lag when the game opened, but a lot of people are still giving the new title a lot of positive feedback; despite the hiccups, Lost Ark’s release has been a huge success.

In the open beta, there are four classes and three sub-classes for each class. Each sub-class has its own unique traits and gameplay style. Players are actively deciding their favorite classes and talking about the various strengths and weaknesses with others.

What are the classes that caught players’ attention at first and what are the classes that they ultimately decided to play? In Lost Ark Inven, the community website for Lost Ark, the users were asked what class they planned to play before the game’s launch.

About 1,500 users participated in the survey, and Bard (13.6%) was ranked first. Rank #2 and #3 are Summoner (10.6%) and Arcana (10.5). It seems people are very fond of beautiful mage characters. Rank #4 to #12 in order are Devil Hunter (9.4%), Destroyer (8.8%), Hawkeye (8.6%), Infighter (8.2%), Force Master (7.3%), Warlord (7%), Battle Master (5.5%), Blaster (5.3%), and Berserker (5.1%).

Are there any changes to the ranking after the open beta?

Another survey was made in Lost Ark Inven on November 13th via Google Survey, and the Bard was still the most preferred class (12.8%). However, second and third place were Devil Hunter (10.6%) and Arcana (10.4%) respectively.

The Bard is the only support class and is especially effective for some endgame content like raid and the Chaos Dungeon. Both the Devil Hunter and Arcana were the main classes capable of dealing massive damage in the final closed beta test, and it seems they still are; the Devil Hunter is notably one of the most powerful DPS along with Hawkeye and Force Master.

The rest of the ranking is Infighter (9.3%), Hawkeye (9.1%), Summoner (8%), Warlord (7.8%), Berserker (7.6%), Blaster (7.2%), Destroyer (7%), and Battle Master (2.2%) in descending order of popularity.

Battle Master is a sub-class that boosts ally damage and debuffs the enemies using her skills and combos, but there are many other sub-classes that can replace her - not to mention her somewhat complicated controls. Also, the Battle Master cannot deal much damage by herself.

Smilegate has worked on Lost Ark for 7 years and the game now has more than 250,000 concurrent users. The game is currently ranked #3 in the PC Cafe Rankings, which is an important norm is measuring how popular a game is in Korea. The developers are now working to expand the game servers to fix the server lag and long wait time.
