Bungie signs a 100 million dollar partnership with NetEase Games

Bungie, the developer of the Halo and Destiny series, signed a 100 million dollar partnership with NetEase Games a few days ago.

NetEase Games is the second largest game company in China next to Tencent Games. NetEase Games has developed games like Onmyoji and Wildfire, and is the publisher for Blizzard’s games in China including World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch.

The partnership is expected to work towards the mutual benefit of both companies. NetEase will have more competitive power in the Chinese gaming market, and Bungie can grow into a global game company.

Pete Parsons, the Chief Executive Officer of Bungie, claimed that this partnership will be “an opportunity to become a global multi-franchise entertainment studio”, and the investments will be resources for new titles.

Bungie also added that Destiny, which was published by Activision, will not be affected by this partnership and will be a series that will grow bigger in the upcoming years. Bungie stated that the players who are enjoying the Destiny series will not experience any detriments because of the new games.
