XD Games has teased a collaboration with Arc System Works for its turn-based RPG Etheria: Restart, bringing three Guilty Gear -Strive- characters to the game in Season 7 (SS7), while the current SS6.4 Eidolon Scourge season is now live worldwide.
According to a release, the collaboration was first announced at the October TapTap Games Showcase. The three Guilty Gear -Strive- characters will join the roster as Animuses from a new faction. XD has not yet named the characters or shared a date; more details on the collab and SS7 will come later.
Until then, players have SS6.4. It is the extended finale of SS6 Pyrite Nyx, the game's anniversary season. The update adds a new character and new Arena rules, along with quality-of-life changes. The season runs from November 4th to December 2nd.
Thalos joins as a defensive support
The new Animus is Thalos, vice-captain of the Elysian faction's Third Manhunter Corps. He is a defense-focused support built to take damage in place of his allies, while wearing enemies down with damage-over-time (DoT) skills such as Infernal Flame.
He is hard to put down. If Thalos falls in combat, he can revive himself with a share of his max HP on a later turn; he is also immune to control effects. XD says he will ‘greatly improve any team's survivability’. A limited-time ‘Prowess Up’ event rewards players who max out Thalos' potential with exclusive in-game items.
Summit Arena changes and other additions
Summit Arena, the game's PvP mode, gets a new draft option with affinity restrictions. At the start of every match, players choose from a set of character affinity combinations and can then field only matching Animuses for that bout.
Win points are also raised during this Summit Arena Special Season. Players below Platinum rank no longer lose points after a defeat, which makes the climb to Legend rank easier.
SS6.4 also brings an auto-matched arena event and a new banner. The other notable addition is the Seneschal Chaku, a ‘smart-butler’ feature. According to the release, Chaku lets players claim daily rewards and make one-click shop purchases. More details are on the official Etheria: Restart website.
Etheria: Restart is out now on PC, iOS and Android. The PC version is free to play on Steam.
