Sentinels has signed VALORANT world champion Brock 'brawk' Somerhalder, hours after he confirmed he would not re-sign with NRG.
The North American organisation announced the signing on X (formerly Twitter) on November 3rd at 1 PM PT, writing: "Bringing out the big guns. World Champ @brawk is officially a Sentinel." Sentinels did not share the length of his contract or say who else will be on its roster.
The news came two hours after NRG said goodbye to the player in a farewell video, calling him "World Champ, Odin King, and an indelible part of NRG's legacy." The team added: "Thank you for everything @brawk, you'll always be family here."
Why brawk left NRG
Shortly after NRG's post, brawk explained on X that he had chosen not to re-sign with the team, calling it "probably one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make in esports." He said he had seen fans asking the roster to stay together, but he had to "do what I think is best in my heart."
"Being a pro player sometimes requires very tough decisions and my goal as a player is to put myself in the best spots to win another trophy," he wrote. "If I believe this will be a better decision longterm I will always do it." He thanked his teammates, coaches and staff, and said he would always be grateful to NRG for being the first partner team to take a chance on him.
A world title in his rookie year
brawk won VALORANT Champions Paris 2025 with NRG in his first year in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), Riot Games' top-level competitive circuit. NRG beat FNATIC 3-2 in the Grand Final, and Riot's VALORANT Esports account named him Champions MVP. In its VCT 2025 season wrap-up, Riot called him the "MVP-Odin-abuser", a nod to his love of the Odin machine gun, and noted that three of NRG's five players were rookies.
NRG stayed near the top in 2026. It reached the Esports World Cup 2026 VALORANT final, where it lost 3-1 to 100 Thieves, and went to VALORANT Champions Shanghai trying to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions titles. LOUD went on to win the event in October.
