Square Enix has revealed zephyr as the second new job for Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold. The physical ranged DPS fights with a crossbow and a bird familiar called Nephele. Evercold launches on February 23rd 2027.
According to a release, producer and director Naoki Yoshida showed the job during the opening keynote of Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo. A zephyr trailer went up on the official Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel, along with a full-length Evercold trailer.
Square Enix says Final Fantasy XIV has passed 35 million registered accounts.
Pre-orders open November 4th
Pre-orders for Evercold and its Collector's Box start on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Players who pre-order get early access, which is tentatively set to begin on Friday, February 19th 2027 at 1:00 a.m. PDT.
Pre-orders also include two items. Halone's Earring raises EXP earned from defeating enemies by 30% (up to level 100) and is delivered right away. The other is the Wind-Up Köttr minion. These bonuses apply automatically on the Mog Station, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store and Nintendo eShop.
The Collector's Box does not include a copy of the game. It holds a special art box with an illustration by Yoshitaka Amano, a Reaper figure, an Ethos metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush and the Tapestry of the Fourth.
The Digital Collector's Edition adds the Valhallar Odin mount (shown in its own trailer), the Entreat Crystal emote and the Crystal Skyltborg: Bastion weapon.
A limited Collector's Bundle pairs the physical box with a Digital Collector's Edition code for Windows or Mac. It is sold only through the Square Enix Store. Players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam need to buy the Collector's Box and the Digital Collector's Edition separately.
Evangelion and Final Fantasy VII crossovers
The keynote also showed EVANGELION: Ghosts of Desire, an alliance raid crossover, in a new trailer. New high-difficulty 8-player battles will feature bosses from that raid.
Square Enix also shared artwork by Tetsuya Nomura for Beyond the Lifestream, the Final Fantasy VII Remake crossover raid. A new Fierce difficulty will sit between Normal and Savage.
Other keynote topics included new areas, an evolved combat mode, a Seasons reward system and changes to character creation (including Character Action Skins). Patch 8.1 will bring more updates, including a revamp of companion chocobos.
More details are on the official Evercold site. The game's Free Trial covers content up to patch 5.58, from A Realm Reborn through Shadowbringers.
