NACON and Teyon have released a new video for Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish that walks through its character creator, which adapts the 5th Edition rules of the World of Darkness tabletop role-playing game (RPG).
According to a release, the character creation video is part of NACON's “Month of Darkness” celebration of the World of Darkness universe created by White Wolf. It follows a dev diary on how Teyon is turning the tabletop system into a video game. Both are on NACON's YouTube channel.
Building a Hunter
Players do not control a superhero in Deathwish. They play an ordinary human. The character sheet decides who survives. Creation starts from preset models that can be sculpted down to build, hairstyle and clothing, along with the tattoos and scars that hint at a troubled past.
Players can pick a pre-built archetype to jump straight into the story or build a character from scratch. Points spent on attributes like Strength unlock tiers in related skills such as Brawl and Melee. The release pitches this as fast specialization. Builds can lean on diplomacy, stealth or occult knowledge.
Dice rolls, virtues and flaws
Skills feed into dice-roll checks during play. A charismatic Hunter can talk their way out of a fight, while a sharper one can find clues others miss. Before the hunt begins, players also choose virtues and flaws. These shape how the story plays out.
“The heart of any RPG lies in the player's ability to truly make their character their own. That's why we wanted to deliver a character creator that is both deep and highly accessible,” said Piotr Latocha, Game Director at Teyon. “Every decision, from appearance to skills, will impact how you survive in the unforgiving world of Hunter: The Reckoning. Your character is a direct reflection of how you choose to face the darkness.”
