Frontier Developments has released the Spooktacular Pack, a Halloween downloadable content (DLC) pack for its theme park management game Planet Coaster 2, on PC as well as PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S.

According to a release sent on launch day, the pack's main draw is Walkthrough Attractions. Players build haunted houses, scare mazes or other attractions that guests explore on foot, scene by scene; they can also set how guests react at each moment. Frontier first detailed the pack on October 22nd, listing it at £14.99/$18.99/€18.99. The base game is required.

The feature is not pitched as horror-only. Frontier's examples run from ‘suspenseful scares’ to ‘magical encounters’ (in its October 22nd announcement, the studio said the feature was built with the base game's other themes in mind). Players place the scenery, animatronics and sound effects along the route.

Rides, ghosts and spooky brands

Seven rides come with the pack: Spectre, Sledge, Bosetti, Ballista, Rumpus Room, Horror Heights and The Huntsman. Two are coasters (Spectre and Sledge). Bosetti is a dark ride, according to the October 22nd announcement. Eerie decorations and themed scenery round out the set.

Ghostly entertainers roam the paths too. Wigglebones has a ‘larger-than-life personality’, while King Ghoster drifts through the park; Queen Scream is billed as ‘the star of any spooky celebration’.

Some of the game's in-park brands get Halloween makeovers. The release names Chief Teeth, Ghoulpee, Cosmic Cow Scare Shakes, Just a Boo-mento and Scream Emporium.

Planet Coaster 2, the sequel to 2016's Planet Coaster, launched in November 2024. Frontier is based in Cambridge, UK, and also makes Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution. More details are on the official Planet Coaster website.
