Kakao Games and Ocean Drive Studio have announced Beta 2 for God Save Birmingham, a physics-driven zombie survival simulator set in medieval England. The public playtest runs on Steam from November 2nd to November 9th.

According to a release, the test opens on November 2nd at 3:00 PM PT (6:00 PM ET) and closes on November 9th at 10:00 AM PT. Getting in is simple. From Monday, players can click a 'Request Access' button on the game's Steam page for instant entry. An announcement video was released alongside the news.

This is the game's second beta. For most players, it is the first chance to try the game since the beta held in June, which the release says drew more than 67,000 players. Returning testers will notice ‘a considerable number of changes’, the release adds.

Co-op arrives in alpha form

The biggest addition is co-op: players can now try to survive the medieval setting with friends, though the mode is still an alpha build. A save feature is also new (a safety net while fending off the undead). Cooking and crafting get more options. New weapons are in, too.

Ocean Drive Studio has also made tweaks based on player feedback. Zombies now vary in aggression and behaviour depending on their type; clothing keeps players warmer or colder based on its material. More kinds of doors and windows can be barricaded or latched shut.

Co-op became the team's top priority after strong demand from testers, Creative Director Hyeonseong Cha told Inven at Gamescom 2026 in August. He said at the time that the Early Access launch had moved to the first half of 2027, partly so features like co-op could be there from day one.

Kakao Games, listed on KOSDAQ since September 2020, publishes and develops PC and mobile games. According to the release, its launched titles include Odin: Valhalla Rising, Uma Musume Pretty Derby and PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Ocean Drive Studio is a Kakao Games subsidiary. Its first game was the turn-based tactical RPG Lost Eidolons, released on Steam, PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox; it later released Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch and the roguelite shooter Section 13.
