On October 27, Capcom announced that content requiring online functionality is currently unavailable in the Steam version of the fighting game 'Street Fighter V'. Emergency maintenance is underway to perform security updates on the PHP applied to the game.
Due to this maintenance, access to modes requiring online matchmaking—including Capcom Fighters Network (CFN), the game's proprietary network service, as well as Ranked Match, Casual Match, and Battle Lounge—is restricted. Conversely, offline content that runs standalone without network connectivity, such as Arcade Mode, Story Mode, Local Versus, and Training Mode, remains playable as usual during the maintenance.
Apart from existing buyers being able to launch the game offline, new sales have been temporarily restricted. Capcom stated that it has temporarily suspended sales of Steam products for 'Street Fighter V' on its official web storefront, Capcom Town Store, until all necessary fixes are complete. Capcom Town Store is an official channel that sells PC product codes redeemable on Steam, and sales were paused to prevent customer inconvenience resulting from the online functionality restrictions.
Released in 2016, 'Street Fighter V' continued receiving updates through the 'Champion Edition', which compiled its roster and content, and has maintained a steady user base on Steam even after the 2023 release of its sequel, 'Street Fighter 6'. Capcom has not yet disclosed when the emergency maintenance will end or when online features and store sales will resume.
