On September 23, HoYoverse will update the open-world adventure RPG Genshin Impact with Version 7.1, "Requiem of Death."
In this update, amid escalating tension in Snezhnaya, the Traveler meets the Tsaritsa, who is plotting to oppose the Heavenly Principles. The new Archon Quest reveals why the Tsaritsa has collected Gnoses over the past six years and the strategy behind her actions, as the Traveler joins forces with Snezhnaya to battle Ronova, the Archon of Death. Rhinedottir, the Archon of Life, will also make an appearance, and Ronova will be added as a new Weekly Boss.
New 5-star playable characters Vesna and Vodyanitsa are also joining the roster. Vesna, an Anemo sword character, converts Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl reactions when added to a party. She attacks using a spirit sword and sword energy, and can soar into the sky in the overworld through the power of a wind spirit.
Vodyanitsa, a Hydro catalyst character, transforms into a Hydro nymph to heal active party members. She lowers enemies' Hydro and Cryo RES while boosting the ATK of the active character, and further reduces Anemo RES through Starlight Gusts while increasing Stellar Swirl reaction damage. She also features exploration capabilities, traversing water and land in her Hydro nymph form.
The first half Character Event Wishes of Version 7.1 will feature Vesna and Vodyanitsa, while the second half will feature reruns for Skirk and Escoffier.
The Moonchase Festival returns to Liyue for the first time in five years. Set in Yilong Wharf, the event features a storyline dealing with mysteries of the past along with three mini-games inspired by Liyue's Taoist exorcists. In Snezhnaya, a time-limited snowball event will be held, while in Natlan, players can participate in an event predicting tournament results among 16 teams.
The Sea of Stars world lobby will feature an autumn theme incorporating sweet osmanthus flowers and full moons. Control modules supporting client scripting and a co-op mode will be added to the editor.
To celebrate the 6th anniversary of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse will offer players who complete the latest Archon Quest during Version 7.1 the opportunity to invite one designated limited 5-star character. Rewards such as one standard 5-star character selector, 1,600 Primogems, and 10 Intertwined Fates will also be distributed.
In addition, 'HoYoLand 2026' will be held from October 2 to 5 at Halls 7 and 8 of KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Ilsan under the theme "Serenade to the Moonlight." The Genshin Impact themed cafe will be redecorated with a Nod-Krai theme and is scheduled to open on September 26.
