The Sinking City 2, the sequel to the Cthulhu Mythos-inspired occult investigative horror game The Sinking City by Ukrainian developer Frogwares, will be released on August 18.
Frogwares unveiled the release date trailer for The Sinking City 2 during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase held in Los Angeles on the 7th. Set in the 1920s, the game takes place in Arkham, a fictional American city now gripped by otherworldly horror after a supernatural flood drove away most of its residents. Players take on the role of occult adventurer Calvin Rapperty, exploring the ruined city to save his lover, Faye, who has fallen into a coma following a botched ritual. Along the way, they must face various threats, including the 'Slithers'—otherworldly creatures that manipulate corpses like puppets.
While the original game focused on investigation, 'The Sinking City 2' shifts its focus to horror, combat, and survival. The newly released trailer showcases the protagonist's desperate struggle against the grotesque monsters lurking in the sunken city of Arkham. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game renders the damp, gloomy city and its bizarre creatures with heightened realism, while also revealing various combat sequences featuring firearms like pistols and shotguns. The latter part of the video offers a glimpse into the surreal abyss of the otherworld, promising a more intense and otherworldly horror experience.
The Sinking City 2' is scheduled for release on August 18 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
