Sega unveiled the official trailer for 'Virtua Fighter Crossroads,' currently in development by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, at the Summer Game Fest main showcase in Los Angeles today (the 6th).
The trailer highlights 'Villaspara,' the primary setting of Virtua Fighter Crossroads, and showcases the fighting style of a new character, 'Cielo.' Villaspara is a city infused with the atmosphere of Southeast Asian markets and Chinatowns, serving as a stronghold for the Chinese mafia. Cielo is an MMA fighter who makes a living in the city's underground fight clubs; while attempting to enter the 'Fight Fest' held in Villaspara, she gets into a brawl after running into trouble with the mafia.
The trailer features a scene of 'Cielo' having breakfast with a group of companions, along with glimpses of characters presumed to be fighters, accompanied by a flyer for the 'Villa Fight Fest.' Notably, the new character whose design drew attention for its resemblance to Sarah Bryant in the concept teaser also appears, heightening anticipation for the game's character lineup.
The footage then shifts to scenes of Cielo fighting the mafia after receiving word of the trouble she caused. The sequences of her evading mafia pursuit on the streets or battling multiple enemies are presented in an action-adventure style, while the 1-on-1 combat scenes utilize the traditional perspective of a fighting game, signaling a new type of single-player content never before seen in the Virtua Fighter series. The trailer concludes with the appearance of a more seasoned Pai Chan, hinting at the passage of time within the game and the potential return of classic fighters.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is scheduled for release in 2027, with additional information to be revealed during a separate showcase following the Summer Game Fest main event at 9:00 AM KST.
