End of an era: Device leaves Astralis for NiP

Danish AWPer Nicolai "device" Reedtz has ended his five-year stint with Astralis to join Swedish side Ninjas in Pyjamas to a three-year deal, ending an era for the Danish team. A core part of Astralis — considered by many to be the best team in CS:GO history — device spearheaded the Danes to four Major titles and numerous other LAN trophies, establishing an era of dominance for his team.

Device was a founding member of the Astralis team in 2016, together with former Team SoloMid teammates Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, with whom device has been playing since 2013.

"Leaving Astralis is tough, to say the least," device told HLTV. "The boys will always be like family to me, but this Covid era has left me thinking a lot; where do I see myself when it all goes back to normal?"

This is a major signing for Ninjas in Pyjamas. The Swedes have struggled to make a dent on the competitive scene, and haven't been ranked in the top 10 since November last year. It's also been almost three years since the once era-defining team brought home an offline title, its last LAN title being the EU Minor Championship for the London Major in 2018. Device

Going forward, Astralis will have to rely on Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen as their fifth.
