HoYoverse held a special program today (the 6th) ahead of the 3 update for its urban fantasy action RPG, 'Zenless Zone Zero.' During the broadcast, key developers introduced the new region 'Loscallyper,' highlighted major changes in the 3 update, and revealed core gameplay additions.
The new region, 'Loscallyper,' is a city built around the three 'Sunbringers' who brought the sun. As a city founded by heroes who fought during Hollow disasters, it remains an autonomous zone outside the full control of New Eridu. The broadcast also revisited the story of the Proxy siblings. Following the events of the late 2 version, where the Proxy encountered the first Hollow Hunter, Remiel Dan, and discovered his weapon, 'Thaumiel,' the nightmare regarding the Helios Institute—long buried in their memories—has reawakened. Version 3 will gradually unfold this narrative.
In 3, the Proxy's new awakened form, 'Phyrois,' will be unveiled. Unlike previous instances where they could not actively fight in the Hollows, in the 'Phyrois' state, the Proxy can engage in combat just like other Agents. As this form places a burden on the Proxy, the update will also feature a wider range of daily life and relaxation activities in the city. Notably, as Loscallyper is the city of the Sunbringers and the Bangboo, players can find unique shops and random rewards throughout the city, while continuing to manage their video store and other existing elements.
Various modes of transportation were introduced, including the 'Air Bus,' which emphasizes the city's status as a sky city. Calling an Air Bus during dawn hours may occasionally lead players to hidden areas, and other surprising hidden elements are also planned. Furthermore, players can access certain facilities in Loscallyper to solve various gimmicks or obtain terminal permissions to uncover the city's secrets. A new drone feature allows players to disable security systems or physically strike certain equipment to open paths. Additionally, once the Proxy awakens the 'Phyrois' power, they can ride rails throughout Loscallyper to traverse the city.

Loscallyper introduces a new concept called 'Leak Singularities.' While not fully hollowed-out zones, these are spaces mutated by proximity to the Hollow. When entering a 'superposition' state, the boundaries distort, allowing access to previously unreachable areas. However, some security devices that remain passive in normal states may suddenly attack; the situation ends once the source of the Leak Singularity is eliminated.
Following the introduction of 'Leak Singularities,' new security machines were mentioned. Originally designed to protect Loscallyper, these devices have been corrupted by persistent Aether erosion and Leak Singularities. As they often possess high firepower or strong shields that ignore stagger effects, players will need quick reflexes to distinguish between parryable and unparryable attacks.

In line with its moniker as the 'City of Bangboo,' Loscallyper introduces 'BangbooNet.' Completing interaction gimmicks or area explorations grants Bangboo collection data, which can be used to complete missions and unlock information about the city and new characters. Uncollected information can be viewed in the details window. Additionally, systems like upgrading Bangboo statues to earn rewards will be added in a way unique to Zenless Zone Zero.
Meanwhile, a 'Preview' feature will be unlocked with the 3 update, allowing users who haven't played previous stories to jump straight into the 3 narrative. Players can experience the 3 story first and return to complete previous version stories at any time.

The new character 'Bellina' was introduced. As an Agent of the Loscallyper Foreign Strategy Bureau, Bellina is the first Wind-type Agent. She specializes in triggering the new anomaly effect 'Turbulence' by combining with various Anomaly Agents to accumulate damage. 'Turbulence' is distinct from the Wind-type anomaly 'Weathering'; when both Weathering and another elemental anomaly are present, it spreads the other elemental anomaly to nearby enemies.
Furthermore, her skill 'Tea Party Etiquette' increases damage based on the number of Anomaly or Wind-type Agents in the party, making her a key card for maximizing anomaly effects. Her passive, 'Elegant Cuffs,' summons a Local Cyclone when Turbulence is triggered, accumulating Wind Erosion. If Turbulence is triggered again after two points of Wind Erosion, it creates a Wide-Area Cyclone for higher damage multipliers. When non - Wind elemental attacks are added to the Wide - Area Cyclone, a 'Contamination' effect triggers, increasing damage and reducing resistance, further boosting synergy with other anomaly damage dealers.

Next, 'Norma' was introduced as a Fire-type Stun Agent, specialized in accumulating Daze quickly through party members triggering additional combo skills. Holding the normal attack triggers a quick assist from the previous character. Once 'Chamber Preheating'—accumulated by remaining on the field after combat or picking up hats dropped by other party members—is sufficient, the quick assist changes into a combo skill.
Activating the Special Skill fires a barrage of missiles, granting 'Chamber Preheat' stacks while accumulating Daze. It deals additional damage to enemies who are already Dazed. Activating the EX Special Skill deploys a turret that automatically fires a machine gun; this transforms into a rocket launcher when you trigger an attack that Dazes an enemy or consumes Chamber Preheat. Activating the ultimate skill summons a tactical artillery piece, dealing massive damage and granting a large amount of 'Chamber Preheat'.

Finally, the Proxy's combat form, 'Phyrois,' was introduced. As an Ether-type Attack Agent, Phyrois allows players to choose one of four ultimate skills based on the situation. The top ultimate, 'Ten Thousand Monarchs,' is a charged downward strike that grants 'Crimson Flame' and enters the 'Haze' state, dealing increased damage to Dazed enemies.
The bottom ultimate, 'Path of Victory,' generates a shockwave and enters the 'Flare' state, increasing energy gain efficiency and damage dealt. Perfect guarding an enemy attack during this state replenishes Crimson Flame. The left ultimate, 'Free Sword,' adds bonus damage when heavy attacks hit contaminated enemies. The right ultimate, 'Eternal Confinement,' condenses energy; if a heavy attack hits a Dazed enemy, it triggers a finisher that deals massive damage and ends the enemy's Dazed state.
Additionally, 'Burnice' possesses a passive skill that increases critical damage when there is a Stun or Support agent in the party, and increases Decibel gain when casting Combo Skills. Along with the addition of these three agents, a new S-rank Bangboo, 'Ultra Jake', is also being added. Ultra Jake enters a flight state during combat to continuously deal Fire type damage to enemies on the field. If there is a specific number of Los Caliper agents in the party, it also charges the agents' energy or deals additional damage to enemies during combat.

The update also introduces a new permanent mode, 'Bang! Genius and Miracle Chips.' This project involves recruiting various Bangboo in an auto-battler style to solve problems, emphasizing the fun of overcoming obstacles using modules and boosters. The Data Area Special Training requires strategic thinking, including considering elemental affinities and timing ultimate skills. Rewards include Polychrome, 'Well Done' expressions for increased EXP gain, and titles. A 'Stress Test' mode is available for hardcore challenges, while a daily quick-clear feature is provided for convenience.
The 3 event content includes 'Assemble! Mock Exam Raid Plan.' This mode implements a roguelike vertical-scrolling shooter where players level up by defeating monsters. Players can randomly enhance Bangboo attacks upon leveling up within the time limit. Failing to defeat monsters in time results in heavy damage. Unlike traditional roguelike shooters, it supports Zenless Zone Zero's signature parrying and dodging, allowing for dynamic responses to yellow and red patterns. In addition to the 'Mock Front' challenge, a hardcore 'Critical Front' mode is also supported.

'The Lame Crow's Strange Records' features various happenings involving a detective who claims the Proxy is involved in a malicious incident. The Proxy acts as the detective's assistant, checking requests and uncovering flaws in the case notes. Completing this grants rewards like Polychrome. Additionally, the 'Cooperation with Sharp Shadows' event will be held, where players engage in party combat considering the unique characteristics of each stage.
A new permanent mode for hardcore players, 'Simulated World Annihilation,' is added. This mode features three types of high-difficulty bosses in Normal and Extreme modes, where the key is adapting to new, previously unseen traits. In Normal mode, players can use all trial Agents at a fixed level, with some receiving special buffs. In Extreme mode, players choose from fixed-level Agents, focusing purely on mastering boss mechanics.

The 3 update includes the Bangboo-themed login event 'Art is Bangboo' and 'Good Morning, Loscallyper,' where players help Bangboo solve their worries. Players can observe the daily lives of Bangboo in various professions, with different endings based on choices. Completing all branches grants rewards like Polychrome and titles. Additionally, double rewards for Area Patrol and Data Bounty will be available, along with new Disc series for Wind and Ether-type Agents.
Improvements following the 3 update were also introduced. A new combat power evaluation category will be added to help clarify character growth directions. Disc mass-dismantling will be improved, and when setting a specific Agent as a training target, Disc tuning will automatically suggest 4-set/2-set configurations tailored to that Agent.

Proxy costume accessories such as hats, hair ornaments, earrings, and glasses will be classified as shared accessories, allowing for more diverse appearance combinations. Preview videos will be added to event detail pages for quicker understanding. Skill descriptions and enemy details will include explanations of special terms, helping users better understand their situation and enemy mechanics for optimal settings.

Graphics have been further improved with global illumination and optimized long-distance model details. Ray tracing is now supported, enhancing the game's unique aesthetic and lighting realism. DLSS support ensures stable frame rates while maintaining image quality. Ahead of the update, web events for new and returning users will be held, and the game will launch on Steam on June 17. A collaboration with The Venti, themed around Hugo and Vivian, was also announced, with details to follow on the official community.

At the end of the 3 broadcast, Producer Zhenwei Li appeared to tease the 2nd anniversary in version 3.1. He announced that version 3 will provide a Loscallyper-themed Proxy costume and the new Agent Phyrois, along with support for Phyrois' W-Engine and full constellations. He expressed gratitude for the support despite previous imperfections and promised a better experience on the Sky Island. As a token of appreciation, an additional 1600 Polychrome will be distributed in version 3: 600 initially, and 1k on July 4, the game's anniversary. Various other rewards were also promised to ensure a comfortable play experience.

Zenless Zone Zero's 3 update is scheduled for June 17, with more details available on the official lounge.
