On Thursday morning, Riot Games revealed brand new information about what players of Teamfight Tactics can expect over the course of 2021 as part of their Season 2021 Opening Day live stream. With more than 200,000 fans watching on their official YouTube live stream, TJ Bourus, the Product Lead for the auto chess game mode, spoke about what players will get to experience in the short and long term.
While the segment dedicated to Teamfight Tactics was shorter than most, players were given the confirmation that two sets of content will be coming out in 2021, including the mid-set expansion, in the upcoming weeks. Set 5, whose name was not made public, will have a good-versus-evil vibe, according to Bourus. Specifics were not shared other than champions such as Garen and Riven will represent the "good" guys while Darius, Volibear, Morgana, Teemo, and the Viego (the newly revealed "Ruined King" champion) will be making up some of the baddies coming later this spring.
For players who may want to mix up their playing experience, the development team announced today that a "turbo" game mode is on the horizon. According to Bourus, individuals who want a simpler and faster way of playing TFT will have a blast with the new game mode which they will be sharing more information on later in the year.
The final bit of information revealed during the stream is one that players have been requesting since shortly after the game was released: a spectator mode. The development team is hard at work working on creating an esports-specific spectator mode for the end of the year that they aim to have ready for the Set 5 World Championship. No further details were shared as to when one may be coming to the game's standard client.
