The 30th anniversary medals for 'Diablo' have drawn widespread attention since they were first announced. For those who wondered what they would look like in person after seeing photos, the physical products were finally revealed at the Blizzard booth during Game Esports Seoul 2026 (GES 2026), which opened on the 18th. Inside a glass display case at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, the gold and silver medals were displayed alongside intaglio prints. Looking up close, there was quite a lot to admire even within these small round discs.
Billed by Blizzard as the first public physical reveal, the exhibition featured gold, silver, and bullion medals as well as intaglio prints created in collaboration with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO). According to the official online store, the gold medal is 32mm in diameter with 15.55g of gold, while the silver medal is 40mm in diameter with 31.1g of silver, both boasting a purity of 99.9%. First is the logo side of the silver medal. Inside a horned skull, the name 'DIABLO' and the number '30' are inscribed. Following the skull's horns with your eyes reveals concentric circles and small symbols. The fine lines filling the spaces between them are remarkably detailed. The contrast between the dark etched grooves and the brightly shining surfaces brings out the distinct outlines of the skull and patterns.
On the front face depicting gathered demons, the sense of three-dimensional depth immediately stands out. Multiple faces and horns rise in layers, with deep recessed grooves between them. Fangs, facial wrinkles, and lines wrapping around the clothing of the lower figure fill every bit of the small disc. The central and lower faces in particular appear to pop out from the background. Seeing the brightly shining horns alongside the shadowed grooves makes the piece look like a collection of tiny sculptures assembled together.
The gold medal is equally captivating to inspect on both sides. On one side, concentric circles and a pentagram—a five-pointed star—are layered behind a hooded face, with three smaller pentagrams visible below. Following the outer rim reveals the inscription 'DIABLO 30TH ANNIVERSARY' alongside the years 1996 and 2026. The other side features a demon's horns, face, and claws set against a cracked wall background. Combined with the 30th-anniversary logo on the left, the overall atmosphere captured within the gold disc feels quite imposing.
Black-and-white and color intaglio prints were also on display alongside the medals. Though depicting the same demons, the two artworks convey distinctly different moods. The black-and-white version highlights the dense lines filling the faces and horns, while the color version immediately draws the eye with its red backdrop and orange-glowing demon body. Looking closely at the photos reveals fine lines running across the entire print, capturing the demons in a way that contrasts with the relief work on the medals.
From the small symbols surrounding the skull to the layered demon horns and the years engraved on the rim of the gold medal, the closer you look, the more details there are to discover.
