G2 Esports has won its 20th League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) title after sweeping Movistar KOI (MKOI) 3-0 in the LEC 2026 Summer Grand Final.
The series was played on September 20th at the Palais Nikaïa in Nice, France. The LEC is Europe's top-flight League of Legends competition, run by the game's developer, Riot Games. No other organisation has won it as many times as G2, which lifted its first trophy in 2016, when the league was still called the EU LCS.
The result was G2's fourth consecutive LEC title. It also completed a clean sweep of the 2026 domestic season, as the team had already won LEC Versus and the Spring Split earlier this year. G2 last won every domestic split in a single year in 2024.
The winning roster featured toplaner Sergen ‘BrokenBlade’ Çelik, jungler Rudy ‘SkewMond’ Semaan, midlaner Rasmus ‘Caps’ Borregaard Winther, botlaner Steven ‘Hans Sama’ Liv and support Labros ‘Labrov’ Papoutsakis.
A familiar final
The Grand Final was a rematch of last year's Summer decider, which G2 also won 3-0.
The two teams took very different paths to Nice. MKOI finished the regular season outside the top four and had to come through the lower bracket, beating Team Vitality 3-2, NAVI 3-1 and home favourite Karmine Corp 3-0. G2 needed only two series, beating Vitality 3-0 and then Karmine Corp 3-1 to book its place in the final.
G2 controlled the series from the start. It took game one in under 28 minutes and game two in around 31, then closed out the title in roughly 29 minutes in game three.
For Caps, the win brought his personal tally to 18 LEC titles, more than any other player in the league's history. Labrov was named Finals MVP, an award rarely given to support players. He died only twice across the three games, and both deaths came in game two. He played Seraphine, Lulu and Lux across the series, finishing with kill/death/assist lines of 2/0/12, 2/2/18 and 3/0/4.
G2 heads to Worlds 2026 as Europe's top seed
The title means G2 will head to the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) as the LEC's first seed. MKOI and Karmine Corp have also qualified to represent the region.
Worlds 2026 runs from October 15th to November 14th in the US. The play-in stage will be held at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles, while Allen, Texas will host the Swiss stage, quarterfinals and semifinals. The final is set for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
G2 reached the quarterfinals at last year's event, where it lost 3-1 to Chinese team Top Esports. No European team has won Worlds since Fnatic claimed the first edition of the tournament in 2011.
