The first teaser trailer for the new 'One Piece' anime, currently in production by Wit Studio, has been unveiled.
The teaser features familiar characters, including the Straw Hat Pirates—Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji—as well as Shanks and Buggy.
This new 'One Piece' anime is a remake starting from the first episode of the East Blue Saga. Season 1 will cover the story of the first 50 chapters of the original manga across seven episodes. It will span the journey up to Luffy's meeting with Sanji, with a total runtime of approximately 300 minutes.
Based on Eiichiro Oda's original manga, this new production is directed by Masashi Koizuka. For the Japanese version, Mayumi Tanaka, who has voiced Monkey D. Luffy in the original anime, will reprise her role. The new series aims to depict the story with a fresh perspective while remaining familiar, actively utilizing modern animation techniques that were not possible in the past.
Director Masashi Koizuka shared his thoughts, saying, "I would be delighted if children around the world could experience the same excitement I felt. I approached this project with the goal of being moved by the new visuals I create, so please look forward to this new 'One Piece'."
Mayumi Tanaka, the voice of Luffy, stated, "I am truly happy to participate in this new series as Luffy once again. While I felt some anxiety about this new challenge, the experience itself was full of new realizations, and it allowed me to refresh my mindset for playing Luffy."
The new 'One Piece' anime, marking the restart of Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates' adventure, is scheduled to be released on Netflix in February 2027.
