Crystal Dynamics unveiled a deep-dive video for 'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis' at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase held on the 7th.
'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis' is a modern reimagining of the original 1996 'Tomb Raider'—the title that inspired countless 3D adventure games—rebuilt with contemporary technology and gameplay. In the deep-dive video, Director Koh Shikada introduced the key features and development philosophy behind the game.

Legacy of Atlantis' goes beyond simply recycling assets or performing a standard remake; it is a complete reconstruction from the ground up. It integrates the timeline of the previous reboot trilogy, depicting the exploits of a Lara Croft who has evolved into a veteran adventurer after surviving three grueling ordeals. The deep-dive showcased some of her evolved signature moves, including scenes of her dodging various traps with acrobatic agility.
With Lara Croft returning as a seasoned veteran, the scale of exploration has expanded significantly. The lush jungles of Peru, crumbling ancient ruins in Greece, and vast deserts of Egypt have been completely rebuilt using Unreal Engine. In particular, the battle against the T-Rex—widely considered the most iconic scene from the original—has been reborn as a cinematic, large-scale boss encounter, promising to deliver intense thrills to players.
The core elements of the adventure genre—puzzles and combat—have also been deepened. Players must solve high-difficulty puzzles that require creative thinking, such as light reflection, water flow manipulation, and decoding ancient symbols. They will also battle dangerous enemies using a variety of custom firearms unlocked throughout the adventure, alongside Lara Croft’s signature dual pistols.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for release on February 12, 2027, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
