Blizzard Entertainment unveiled Shion, the 52nd hero for 'Overwatch 2,' on June 10. Shion will join the game alongside the launch of 'Overwatch 2' Season 3, 'Into the Tiger's Den,' on June 17.
Shion is an omnic hero who leads the Hashimoto clan in Japan. Connected to the same clan as Hanzo, Genji, and Kiriko, as well as Talon, Shion is seen in the trailer working alongside the Talon operative Mauga. Unlike existing omnics like Zenyatta and Ramattra, Shion features a human-like face.
The accompanying hero trailer, titled 'Terminal,' is set in Tokyo. In it, Shion races through the city on a motorcycle and engages in a shootout with the hero Sojourn on a train. The video shows Shion wielding dual pistols and using a red energy blade for CQC.
Blizzard has yet to reveal Shion's official role and ability kit. While the trailer suggests a playstyle similar to a damage dealer, the exact classification and performance details will be confirmed at launch.
'Overwatch 2' is free-to-play on PC and consoles. Starting this season, Blizzard has also added support for the Nintendo Switch 2.
