Nexon announced that it is accelerating collaborations with various partners to expand the fun of its original titles through 'NEXON Replay,' an open license project that makes its intellectual property (IP) available to external creators.

Following the beta service, the company is in the process of signing contracts with multiple partners based on key IPs such as EverPlanet, Tactical Commanders, Elancia, and Legend of Darkness. It aims to showcase the first results as early as within this year, depending on development progress.

NEXON Replay focuses on creating an environment where creators can flexibly develop projects based on Nexon's proven IPs, ranging from faithful recreations to new interpretations. By providing core assets such as graphic resources and source code, the project lowers the initial barrier to entry. It has also established a royalty structure that shares a percentage of project revenue, laying the foundation for mutual growth.

In particular, the project adopts an open structure that allows multiple creators to utilize the same IP on a non-exclusive basis, fostering an environment where diverse interpretations can coexist. Following the beta service, which saw the pre-contracting and unveiling of several projects, Nexon plans to expand the ecosystem by simplifying recruitment and contracting procedures to make it easier for any creator to participate in the future.

Since the launch of the beta service, development of new titles using these IPs has gained momentum. EverPlanet is being developed as an MMORPG that inherits the sentiment of the original by Rush8, the development team that received positive feedback for creating 'Artale.' Tactical Commanders is being developed as a remastered version by the two-person development team Choga Soft.

In the case of Elancia, it is being developed as a remastered MMORPG, while GameDuo, the developer behind the mobile idle game Cat Hero, is preparing a project that reinterprets it as a mobile RPG. Additionally, Legend of Darkness is being developed as a mobile RPG by Code Dragon, a developer specializing in pixel-art games. As for Asgard, while an official contract has not yet been signed, various discussions are underway, reflecting a broader trend of reinterpreting Nexon's IPs in diverse ways.
