Golden Guardians players continue to be strong fantasy picks for LCS Summer Split Week 9

In order to win big in E1 Fantasy, you want to find VALUE! I’m not just talking about getting your money back, I’m talking about getting what you paid for AND some more. What is value? Well in a perfect world, the highest-priced player at a position would score the most points and so on down; they would all provide value based on their price.

We don’t want to be average though, we want more. So we are looking for the players who will score much higher than their price suggests, returning extra value. In order to help you find these value players, we provided two options at each of the six lineup spots; one for LCS and one for LEC (because everything is better with a little NA vs EU rivalry in there).

Top

Kevin "Hauntzer" Yarnell — Golden Guardians — $210,000 (vs TSM & Evil Geniuses)

The average Kill Participation of LCS Top Laners is 60%. Well, Hauntzer’s KP has been above 80% the last three games, which is incredible.

This is not a fluke either, as it hasn’t even dipped below 69% in any of the last 8 games. He has been prioritized greatly by GG, has Closer on his side, and is being trusted on a variety of Champions. TSM & EG is a tough schedule, but GG just beat C9 so anything can happen.

Barney "Alphari" Morris — Origen — $260,000 (vs Excel Esports & SK Gaming)

It has been a bleak season for Origen, but still, nobody doubts Alphari’s talent. He is absolutely licking his chops this week as he gets to go head-to-head with two Top lakers still in their LEC debut at the position. If he bullies these matchups like he has the ability to do, he can be the win condition for OG as they desperately try to save their playoff hopes. If OG wins through Alphari, you know the Fantasy Points will be there.

Jungle

Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen — Team Liquid — $260,000 (vs Immortals & TSM)

Last week was exactly what I needed to see from Broxah. A game where he was very involved in the fights (85% KP) and another game where he was bringing the Kills himself (5/0/7 line on Graves). Let’s hope those afk farming days don’t make a return.

Erberk "Gilius" Demir — FC Schalke 04 — $220,000 (vs Fnatic & Team Vitality)

ALL HAIL GOD GILIUS. We are not worthy! There is no team hotter than Schalke in the LCS or LEC right now, and there is no doubt that Gilius is their fearless leader. Just in the 4 game win-streak, Gilius has 3 games over 32 points. Schalke just has to beat a struggling FNC team to get another 2-0 fantasy week, and God Gilius will lead them to the promise land.

Mid

Tommy "Ryoma" Le — 100 Thieves — $280,000 (vs Dignitas & Evil Geniuses)

Although 100T may have lost 4 of their last 6 games, you shouldn’t think they have fallen apart. All of those losses came against teams with winning records, something neither of their opponents this week have. In their last 2 wins, Ryoma has gone OFF. He had 5 Kills and 31+ points in both of those games. 100T need Ryoma in order to win.

Dirk "ZaZee" Mallner — SK Gaming — $250,000 (vs G2 Esports & Origen)

Are you scared to pick ZaZee because he has a match against surging G2? Well, don’t forget that G2 has struggled a lot this split, and SK’s last two wins have come over MAD & RGE. Now, G2 doesn’t seem as daunting… almost like an enticing challenge. Pair that with an in-lane matchup against Nukeduck and you have a very high-upside sleeper play for the week.

Bot

Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng — TSM — $290,000 (vs Golden Guardians & Team Liquid)

Nobody is happier than Doublelift to see Caitlyn back in the meta. He picked her up for both his games last week and looked real strong. Investing in TSM is a daunting task this week, but DL would be the upside play to go after if you are feeling risky. His price is low enough for him to find major profit, and I don’t have to think too hard about why he wants to have a big match against Tactical.

Juš "Crownshot" Marušič — SK Gaming — $280,000 (vs G2 Esports & Origen)

The same schedule upside I walked through with ZaZee applies here with Crownshot. The difference between the two SK player is that even ZaZee has the better in-lane matchup against Origen, Crownshot has been the player carrying SK all season long. Before SK’s win over RGE, Crownshot scored 33+ points in each of the last 3 wins, one coming against MAD. Crownshot is the leader of SK, in spirit and Kills.

Support

Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun — Golden Guardians — $120,000 (vs TSM & Evil Geniuses)

Who is Top 3 among full-time LCS Supports in Kill Participation? Yup! And to add to Huhi’s resume even more, he has the Sett pick in his back pocket that he just got 5 Kills with in a game 2 weeks ago. Huhi has been solid, but the Sett gives him a ridiculous upside that can let him score like a Top Laner. Talk about value at $120k.

Han "Dreams" Min-kook — FC Schalke 04 — $100,000 (vs Fnatic & Team Vitality)

It is nice to go discount at Support, but no position’s success is tied more to winning than Supports. If you hail GodGilius himself, then you have bought into another 2-0 week for S04 here. With his cheap price, Dreams allow you to benefit greatly from a 2-0, both in his scoring and what he allows you to do at other positions.

Team

100 Thieves — $240,000 (vs Dignitas & Evil Geniuses)

Like I said with Ryoma, there isn’t a panic alarm going off in my head over 100T dropped 4 of their last 6, as it was expected. Instead, my mental alarms are ringing on EG & DIG. A strong chance at a 2-0 week is a steal for $240k (I’m not creative enough to pair a ‘Thieves’ joke with that steal reference).

FC Schalke 04 — $210,000 (vs Fnatic & Team Vitality)

The cherry on top of the S04 to Worlds bandwagon. S04 Team is not a sexy pick as they do not play prioritize objectives as well as you would like to see, but I’m just chasing Wins, not Dragons. The price is amazing and we have seen the upside over the last two weeks.
