[LCK Today] Griffin shuts out DAMWON Gaming, Gen.G secures their 13th win with Bdd recording his 1,000th kill

In the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Spring Split matches held on the 8th of April (KST), Griffin defeated DAMWON Gaming who had one win left to secure a spot in the playoffs while Gen.G defeated APK Prince 2-1.

In the match between Griffin and DAMWON Gaming, Griffin mid laner Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon picked Qiyana and roamed actively to the top and bot lanes. Griffin was able to dominate their opponents in the objective fights utilizing Gragas, Ornn, and Qiyana. As the kill score was far apart, Griffin took the game without much trouble. The flow continued in Game 2. Starting from the Rift Herald where Griffin top laner Choi “Sword” Sung-won joined the fight, Griffin had a massive victory, making the game one-sided. Griffin closed Game 2 with a 13-1 kill score, bigger than that of Game 1. By shutting them out, Griffin upset DAMWON Gaming.

Gen.G started their match against APK Prince with the strong mid-jungle. Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong and Kim “Clid” Tae-min’s Zoe and Jarvan IV pushed into APK’s jungle, exhausting Seong “Flawless” Yeon-jun’s Karthus. As Karthus fell too much behind, Gen.G capitalized on their advantage.

In Game 2, APK started fighting back fiercely. They didn’t evade skirmishes and exchanged kills. It was tight throughout the game. Although Gen.G was slightly ahead, APK still made smart plays, taking the Infernal dragon soul and Baron. As it went into the late game, the teamfights became ADC fights. Lee “HyBriD” Woo-jin’s Kalista dealt massive damage, kiting perfectly. Gen.G attempted to recall after slaying the Elder dragon, but APK moved to stop them. APK was able to close the game with an Ace.

In the last game, Gen.G took a small gap and tore it into a huge hole. Clid’s Rek’Sai dominated Flawless’ Jarvan IV. Clid’s Rek’Sai scaled so well that it was able to solo-kill a laner. APK tried to come back in the game by attempting Baron but were countered and the game went in Gen.G’s favor. In this game, Bdd recorded his 1,000th LCK kill.
