G2 Esports pulled off a thrilling 3-2 reverse sweep against TES in the Bracket Stage of the '2026 LoL Mid-Season Invitational (MSI)' held at the Daejeon Convention Center Exhibition Hall 2 on the 3rd. It is the first reverse sweep in an international tournament in three years.

TES secured the first kill. Early in the game, Crème's Cassiopeia took down Caps' LeBlanc. G2 successfully countered in the bottom lane; when both teams' junglers rotated down, a 3v3 skirmish broke out, and G2 managed to take down Jackylove's Varus and Meiko's Nautilus.

In response, TES consistently pressured Caps' LeBlanc in the top lane, catching them twice more to build momentum. TES held a slight gold lead, while G2 had secured two Dragon stacks. TES played aggressively for the subsequent Dragons, evening the stack count at 2-2. TES then won a crucial teamfight, securing their third Dragon stack and Baron, which allowed them to seize control and take the first set.

In Game 2, TES focused on their mid-jungle synergy to find early openings. While TES held a slight edge in the overall flow, G2 showed their resilience, using organic movement around the bottom lane to pick up small advantages and pushing TES back in mid-game teamfights.

However, TES remained confident in their combat. During a 5v5 teamfight for the Rift Herald, G2 secured the objective, but TES won the fight and destroyed the top tier-1 tower. In the following Dragon teamfight, TES' Neeko landed a fantastic initiation, leading to a decisive teamfight victory. TES followed up by taking the Dragon and Baron to seal the game and go up 2-0.

The 3-0 streak that had continued since the Play-In stage was broken by G2. In Game 3, G2 engaged in constant skirmishes with TES from the start while steadily stacking Dragons. G2 clearly led the skirmishes from the 3-Dragon mark, and after picking off opponents to secure Baron, G2 capitalized on TES' impatient play to take their first win of the series.

In Game 4, G2 started strong with kills in the bottom and top lanes. Although TES secured Dragons well, G2's calculated plays resulted in more kills, giving G2 a slight gold lead. G2 secured the Rift Herald, and when the next Dragon spawned, G2 committed all members to the pit; TES chose not to force a fight, conceding the Dragon to focus on scaling.

TES secured the next Dragon to reach three stacks, but G2 responded with a side-lane play to pick off Tristana before successfully taking Baron. Caps' Twisted Fate continued to split-push, destroying the bottom and mid inhibitors. The game stretched past 39 minutes with the Dragon stacks tied at 3-3. However, G2 utilized their map control with Twisted Fate to secure the next Baron. Ultimately, G2 caught out Tristana again and won the 41-minute marathon, tying the series 2-2.

In the final fifth set, G2's Caps on Milio had a comfortable laning phase against Crème's Yone in the mid lane, and the other lanes were also performing well. TES' Tian attempted to gank mid with Maokai to help Yone, but G2 suffered a major loss in a subsequent top-lane fight, allowing G2 to snowball the game.

Mel picked up another kill in mid, extending G2's gold lead to over 2000-3k. TES managed to defend against G2's bottom-lane push, preventing a total collapse. However, G₩2 the next engagement, extending their lead to about 4k gold by the 20-minute mark. TES then targeted Hans Sama's Sivir, but she survived with dramatic kiting, leading to a massive teamfight win for G2 that widened the gap further.

After taking down Tian's Maokai, G2 secured Baron. Despite TES' resilient defense, G2 slowly pushed in, destroyed the Nexus, and became the protagonists of a thrilling 3-2 reverse sweep.
