The new asymmetrical multiplayer horror game 'SAW: Genesis' was unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026 (SGF 2026). The reveal trailer features 'Billy,' the iconic puppet from the SAW film series, various lethal traps, and victims desperately attempting to escape for their survival.
'SAW: Genesis' adopts a 3-vs-1 asymmetrical multiplayer structure. Three Players take on the role of survivors forced into Jigsaw's game, working together to solve puzzles and find a way out, while the fourth Player acts as Jigsaw's apprentice, using traps and devices to stop them. The game aims to recreate the tension of the original films by focusing on psychological warfare and the pressure of difficult choices, rather than simple chases.
Survivors must solve puzzles and secure escape routes within a limited time. Meanwhile, the Jigsaw Player can manipulate surveillance systems, environmental hazards, and various traps to corner the survivors. The revealed footage shows gameplay elements such as the saw-blade traps, chain devices, and claustrophobic room structures familiar to fans of the films.
The development team announced that they will present a new original scenario based on the world of the original films. Players will face different situations and variables in every match across various locations, such as abandoned factories, research facilities, and underground complexes, where teamwork and quick judgment are key to survival.
The Steam page for 'SAW: Genesis' is now live, with an Early Access release date to be announced later. By blending the brutal traps and psychological horror characteristic of the film series with the asymmetrical multiplayer genre, the game is expected to draw significant interest from horror fans.
